No place to hang stuff. A few wall hooks and a towel rack would be very helpful

The staff at this hotel were incredibly warm and welcoming. They were always ready to help with anything, going out of their way to make the stay comfortable and enjoyable. Truly thoughtful and attentive — I felt very well taken care of.

Bathroom can use a little updating as building is a bit old but still clean.

Loved the view of Ganges and early morning sun rays entering my room through the same window....the staff are very helpful especially Akash. If you wish to have your own space without any disturbance, the upper rooms of 6,7,8 will not disappoint you. Rooms here carry a heritage vibes. The rooms may not be luxury but it is more than enough to offer you a memorable stay.

Nothing. The exceptional reviews on booking.com must all be fake, because our experience was abysmal. Our "twin room with private bathroom" was nothing more than a prison cell with a drafty window covered with metal bars, and because the window did not block out any noise, we were serenaded by packs of stray dogs all night long, and just as soon as we'd mercifully start to fall asleep, the calls to prayers from nearby mosques would start up on the megaphones and that was the end of sleep. The "private bathroom" was a profoundly disgusting closet with a barely functioning toilet. Water leaked constantly onto the floor so just using the toilet involved getting shoes and feet wet. There was no wash basin, which made hand washing fun. Taking a shower involved turning a series of knobs that made no logical plumbing sense, and when water did trickle out, it resembled lukewarm cat p!ss. The worst part was how incredibly steep and precarious the stairs were to reach the room. Fine for a 19-yr-old young man in the prime of his life, with no luggage. Not fine for anyone else. No dust bin in the room. No electric kettle although we were given tea bags. I guess we were expected to make hot water out of thin air? The twin beds were hard, wooden platforms with old, thin mattresses; we might as well have been sleeping on the floor. The linens were old and dirty. To add insult to injury, I got bitten by bedbugs or chiggers on my legs and butt. Disgusting!! The manager didn't bother pretending to be polite. He did offer to "fix" our bathroom issues but clearly the repairs couldn't have been done in five minutes, so it was an empty gesture. Laughable really - obviously the plumbing issues have been ongoing since the reign of the last Mughal emperor. Definitely NOT worth the twenty quids a night we paid for this hovel. Not even worth two bucks.

    Location, way to reach

Old building renewed in the heart of the town, facilities very clean (nobody use shoes and they clean the shared rooms everyday), the guys are super cool and helpful, there is a roof for relaxing during the night and view of the river. It’s close to tea & coffee shop, restaurant and the main avenue. Credit cards are not accepted.

Located close to the ghat. One can see life in the old quintessential banarasi gullies The hotel is located away from the main Street, one has to walk quite a bit inside the bylanes to reach the hotel. Suggest to hire a two wheeler taxi service like Rapido if you are carrying a suitcase since three- wheeler cannot reach the hotel. Jai Shiv-shakti !

The staff was very welcoming, they helped us with booking train tickets and made a discount for the second day stay till the late night. As our second day was not planned, we had to change a room, but the room was great and it had a very nice river view. The hostel also has a very delicious cafe and bakery.

Mona Lisa is a great hostel to stay at in Varanasi. The owner, Amant, is very kind and welcoming. The rooms are spacious and come with both A/C and a fan. It’s a cozy place that really feels like home. Plus, it’s affordable and right in the heart of the city Nothing was good good and good
