This is my second stay having seen it while on a walking tour years ago. The front garden and the historic palazzo are very special. The breakfast remains outstanding. The staff is very welcoming. Also the private dock and the short stroll to the public water bus stop are very convenient. I find it a pleasure to be away from St Mark’s Square. Nothing significant

This is just transportation advice--nothing against the hotel. From the airport, if you're not spending money on a private taxi directly to the hotel's gate on the canal, and you don't want to carry your luggage over a few canal bridges, be sure to go to the Ca' D'Oro ACTV stop. It may require an extra transfer (bus from the airport + water bus) compared to just 1 Alilaguna boat to Fondamenta Nove, but the walk from Ca' D'Oro is short, flat and easy, and the bus + vaporetto will probably not cost you any additional time or money, especially if you're going to buy a pass for the vaporetto during your stay.

The history of this charming hotel provides an old world experience that is fitting of a stay in Venice. The staff were very accommodating and professional. Added touches such as fresh flowers in the lobby, a beautiful courtyard garden, and afternoon tea allowed for a welcomed retreat from the hustle of the main areas of the city, which are within walking distance. The history and aesthetics of the property, as well as the privacy.

Our stay was amazing! It felt like travelling back in time. What we loved the most was that it didn't feel like staying at a hotel but at a guest house-palazzo :) The location was great, central but away from the masses. The stuff was all very kind and attentive. There was some problem with the heating in our room and we were transfered to the suite for no extra charge. This room was really like a dream! Also the hotel offered free prosecco when you arrive, afternoon tea everyday and a free transfer to Murano island. It's all these details that make the difference and made our stay feel so cozy and unique. Thank you for everything and we look forward to come back!

    Everything!

Room with garden view was spacious and comfortable. The breakfasts were wonderful, and the staff were attentive and cheerful. Real family atmosphere created. Nice touches included cakes and Vivaldi in the afternoon, and on Saturday prosecco, sausage rolls and mini pizzas!! Of course, this is an old palazzo and one does not expect modern frills. But a kettle in the room would be good - though I accept this is not necessarily the old Venetian way.

Superb hotel, staff were all so friendly, helpful and informative. Room was lovely, and breakfast was exceptional. Location is perfect, near to main sights but quiet and with lovely garden

Everything! The most charming hotel. Rooms are beautiful. Staff are exceptional. Breakfast was great and there was afternoon tea. Magical place. Nothing!

I loved the timbered ceilings, it was the exact room I was hoping to get. The welcome bottle of Prosecco was a nice touch, and the breakfast buffet was quite good. Desserts and beverages were made available late in the afternoon. All of the staff were exceptional, very attentive, and I was made to feel welcome. It was a little difficult to find Palazzo Abadessa, because Venice can be confusing for a first time visitor. My room was a bit noise sensitive, it overlooked a foot bridge where people would congregate. There was an outdoor gymnasium nearby where youth would practice playing ball, but generally it was quiet after 10 PM. There was no AC in the room, so I had to sleep with the windows open. I got several mosquito bites as a result.

The garden and the staff especially Navid and Luca The rooms were very dated. They need to be renovated, especially the bathrooms. They were clean but poorly maintained.

What a hidden gem that hotel was! The palazzo is in the heart of Cannaregio. Everything is close by, yet the area of the hotel is quiet. A really well-preserved palazzo that stays in time capsule, with a beautiful private garden and a classic venetian feel. Our room was big, clean with fabric tapestries, a wooden ceiling, and a canal view. A rich breakfast buffet that includes your order of coffee served in a beautiful space, or if you preferred, at the garden . The staff was really friendly and made sure that we felt welcome. The room also included a bottle of prosecco as a gift that we enjoyed with some food from a closed by restaurant in that beautiful garden . I would really love to stay there again.

Plus: Fantastic location, charme of a old palace, very special atmosphere, staff taking care of of you. Minus: bed was not so good.

The hotel was in a fabulous position and the staff were lovely, as was the tranquil beautiful garden but the suite we stayed in was a bit tired…the bathroom was tired, the carpet on the stairs was frayed…it didn’t feel luxurious for a suite as advertised. However we had a lovely few days.

Historic and beautiful. Care taken to restore sympathetically

    Exceptional

Ample breakfast, elegant ornate quiet room, location just the right amount of out-of-the-way. It would have been nice if a larger common area were available, but the building didn't permit it.
