About Petit Ermitage

Offering a private rooftop with stunning views of Los Angeles, a saltwater pool and comfortable indoor/outdoor seating, this elegant 4-star hotel is within one mile of the Sunset Strip. Each spacious suite at Petit Ermitage is equipped with a flat-screen TV, free Wi-Fi and iPod docking station. All classically furnished rooms also include luxurious linens and goose down pillows. California Mediterranean cuisine is available 24 hours a day in-suite. Meals are created with local organic produce. Spa services such massages, makeup application and personal fitness sessions are available en suite. We allow 2 visitors per suite from Monday through Thursday and 1 visitor per suite from Friday through Sunday. The fashionable Santa Monica Boulevard and Pacific Design Center are within 5 miles of the hotel. Universal Studios Hollywood is 15 minutes away by car. Advanced reservations are now required to enjoy a pool bed (holidays and weekends only, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.) Pool beds can be reserved in 3-hour increments at no charge (maximum 2 people per pool bed) and private cabanas may be reserved for a $400 food and beverage minimum spend for a 4-hour period (maximum 4 people per cabana.) Email rooftop@petitermitage.com to secure your pool bed or cabana reservation. Petit Ermitage feels like what would happen if someone inherited a storied estate from their rich aunt and decided to open it up — carefully, and only to the right people. Tucked away on a quiet residential street just steps from the Sunset Strip, it's one of West Hollywood's best-kept secrets. Awarded a Michelin Key, one of the rarest distinctions in hospitality, this is a place that takes the experience seriously without taking itself too seriously. Eighty suites, none alike. Original art in every hallway. Worn-in antiques that were always meant to be there. A rooftop that has seen things. Come as you are. Leave whenever you're ready. The rooftop is the heart of it. An iconic saltwater pool with panoramic views above Sunset Boulevard, surrounded by a certified bird and butterfly sanctuary hummingbirds included. European pool rules apply after noon. You'll figure out what that means. Cinq à Sept, the hotel's private rooftop restaurant, sits inside the garden. Chef Christopher McLaughlin serves Mediterranean-inspired shared plates with open views of the Los Angeles skyline. Breakfast becomes lunch. Lunch becomes cocktails. Nobody is in a rush. A-listers come for the discretion. Everyone else comes for the rooftop and stays for the people they meet. Personal training, fire deck screenings, morning yoga. None of it the pool, the restaurant, the rooftop is open to the public. The only way in is to stay. The rooftop is also one of only a handful of Audubon Society-certified bird and butterfly sanctuaries in Los Angeles. Native plantings attract hummingbirds and butterflies year-round — which means on any given afternoon, you're floating in a saltwater pool above the Sunset Strip while a hummingbird does its thing three feet away. Not a bad Tuesday.

Position in LA Is an hotel or a roof top for party every day? Noise in the room until 3:00 AM !!! Need really to be renovated: not at the level mentionned by Booking. Carpet outdated.

Central location Staff were not friendly and the rooms were outdated

The positives list is short: I’m very confused by the gushing reviews from expert platforms. Excellent mattresses, some of the bread I was served on a charcuterie board was the best I’ve ever tasted, and the bathroom toiletries are lovely. The negatives list is long. We stayed for three nights in a Demi Double, which was extremely dated and well past needing a refurb. Marks, damage and ingrained dirt on the walls, carpet, curtains and shower tiles are unacceptable, and in no way is the room aesthetically pleasing. Shabby chic went out of fashion in 2001. It was also concerning that the room had a gas fire with the pilot light permanently lit and no trace of a carbon monoxide monitor. Other guests were mainly drunk or high, with a permanent waft of cannabis around the roof terrace, corridors and lobby. I know it’s legal in California, but I can only assume people are smoking in their rooms and not being challenged. There is no free water or milk for coffee in the rooms, and ice has to be sent for rather than being self-service. The food and beverages are very inconsistent. There were a few nice bits, but also lots of inedible, cold dishes with very high prices. An average burger is 30 bucks and a Negroni cocktail is 77 bucks. The crockery used to serve food is also shabby chic, with pieces chipped and cracked. My biggest bug with the food was a pile of wilted brown leaves served with my wife’s omelette. California is dripping with fresh produce, so this should not happen. I’m also still waiting for some ice water from day one of our stay. The F&B nemesis was a pain au chocolat. On one occasion, I was sent a panna cotta, and when I told them, they asked what a pain au chocolat actually was, even though it’s on the menu. The second time we ordered one, it took 45 minutes to arrive, possibly from a local supermarket rather than the kitchen. We travelled with two teenagers, who aren’t allowed in the pool after 12, and I would advise against staying here with children due to numerous amorous couples on the sunbeds after the sun goes down. The hotel should change to adults-only. It is NOT for a family.

Beautifully decorated niche boutique hotel with very friendly staff and sexy bohemian vibes. This is a mature, hip scene that will immerse you in hollywood- the friendly, non-pretentious side of it. The guests were a mix of local members and visiting guests who were there to enjoy the unique vibe of this little gem. One of the best rooftop pools for a mature and hip scene. Would highly recommend if you are specifically looking for this scene.

Terrible service at the bar and pool. Almost un existen. Old big room not too clean. Great location. It would be fine if at least they had spectacular service but old dirty and bad service ??????

Great location. Out dated rooms, beds creaked and the room did not have any cellphone or usb connections in rooms. Staff was not friendly at all except vallet.

The rooftop pool is always such a beautiful escape, the food is consistently excellent, and the overall atmosphere is pure magic. It’s one of the few places that keeps me coming back again and again. Thank you to the entire team for another memorable stay!

Atmosphere like no where else. Staff are amazing. Food is fantastic

Great location. They have a rooftop pool, bar and lounge on the 4th floor. Our room was directly underneath and didn’t get any sleep. After the music stopped at 1am the clean up crew was there until 4am.

I stayed here for a work trip and unfortunately found the staff fairly slow and dismissive. I needed late dinner on the roof one evening and it took a very long time to get served (30 mins for a drink). The person serving me didn’t seem concerned and just grumbled when I asked about the delay. Hotel is getting very tired and in need of refurbing. There was a sinkhole up the street - a pretty big emergency for West Hollywood - and the staff and no instruction for how we could be impacted or what to do. They didn’t really acknowledge it at all. Not the best stay - maybe just not good for business travellers.
