Not a great experience here. We arrived around 7pm and weren’t greeted by anyone. Our keys were left on a table. We had no idea where our room was and had to track someone down to assist. The room itself was fine. Bed was hard and like another review stated, you can hear the outside traffic. Our room did not have a bathroom attached to it and we had to walk down the hall and our door stuck and was difficult to shut. Breakfast was fine.. nothing special. I was disappointed in the lack of assistance from anyone. I didn’t feel very welcome here.

We loved our room (the Piedmont room) at The Shaffner Inn! It was spacious, beautiful, historic and comfortable. The staff were accommodating to all of our needs and the hospitality was outstanding. This was a great place to stay and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

The Reynaldo Room was very loud. Heavy street noise & loud music from cars. If you’re a light sleeper this room isn’t great.

We were on town for the Bowman Gray race. The inn keeper was great. The room was beautiful and the bed was great. The continual breakfast had eggs, sausage, bacon fruit, etc. Fresh orange juice. Definitely would return

It's a beautiful historic home and our room was spacious and comfortable. The staff were very friendly. The breakfast was prepared fresh for us and tasted good. We walked to an excellent Italian restaurant nearby that they recommended to us. There was a lot of street noise.

Shane was very helpful, a great host. Loved the uniqueness of the property. My room was beautiful and comfortable. Inn was walking distance to most attractions and restaurants I was interested in. Complimentary wine in the evening was a nice touch. The lack of a restaurant, as mentioned on the website. Breakfast was not what I'd expect in an historic inn. Shared with the staff during my stay: Lack of signage on the property to guide guests to reception.

No grabs bars in bathroom/shower area. Too small in-room refrigerator.

Breakfast was very good. The eating area, was comfortable. The staff was helpful and very friendly. The room was spacious. Attic room was dark with dark furnishings and little natural light. We wish the dinner restaurant was open.

We loved everything about the Shaffner. It was comfortable with an excellent breakfast. We were greeted with a glass of wine by a very hospitable staff. Our room and the house were darling, we'll decorated and furnished with old charm. Comfy bed with a spacious room. We will be back! Hhmmm.... There wasn't anything we didn't like!

This is one of the best places I’ve ever stayed at!

The breakfast was really good, beautifully presented, fresh and tasty. I enjoyed the fresh fruit and the coffee was really good. I can’t think of anything that could be improved upon.
-
Location. No way to control the temperature in our room. There was also a seed/left over wash cloth hanging over the shower.

I loved the warmth and grandeur of the old Inn. Along with it’s history. I enjoy staying in refurbished old houses instead of always going to modern hotels. The hard woods and decor are so inviting and relaxing. I loved the outdoor patio, the greenery the spaciousness of my room and the hospitality of the manager. Because it is old you have to walk up stairs with your luggage so it took me a few trips but that said it was good exercise!! But if you are unable to do stairs your stay here would be problematic.

Breakfast was a great, full offering of delicious items. Room was clean and just as expected. House has great charm.
