Elmbank York, Tapestry Collection by Hilton
About Elmbank York, Tapestry Collection by Hilton
A boutique Art Nouveau hotel in historic York. Minutes from the heart of the city, overlooking the Knavesmire Strays, lies the Elmbank Hotel, a unique 19th-century mansion with a rich history. Redesigned by Mackintosh contemporary, George Walton, the Elmbank hotel is home to one of the finest and most complete Art Nouveau collections in the UK. Here, impressive stained-glass, beautiful murals, and detailed stencils meld with modern and sophisticated facilities to provide a space of style, comfort, and interest. York’s ancient city walls can be reached in just 10 minutes’ walk, with a further 5 to 10 minutes’ walk taking guests to the historic attractions, including the spectacular York Minster. Alternatively there is a bus stop outside the hotel, and from there a bus in to town takes 3 minutes. York Railway Station is just a 10-minute walk or few minutes by car, and the Elmbank has limited parking. There is also a bus stop near the hotel, with sightseeing tours going in to town. York Racecourse is a few minutes' away.

The main hotel looked fine. But we were in the Lodge across the road ! We were in a lower ground floor room that whilst well appointed was rather dingy and right next to a noisy large air conditioning unit. So we could not open the windows

The parking was a joke, not even in London would I have to pay that amount of money to park next to the Hotel. Literally have 6 or so spaces out the front which we never got one. Had to park in a school carpark to get charged and for them my car to be hit by a door. Really not impressed. The building didn’t have a lift, for someone with a bad back this was awful walking up and down to the top floor.
