Nice spacious room with copper bathtub and large bed Constant road noise and people talking loudly both inside and outside. Cheap carpet in the room, not in keeping with the rest of the room. Unnecessary chargeable car parking!

This was our 2nd time to stay at the Churchill Hotel. We like the location and in nice weather the pizzas from the pizza oven in the front garden are hard to beat!

The staff were very helpful and friendly. Our meal was very good and my husband enjoyed the vegetarian option very much. Delighted to see a fan in the room as it was very hot! Location was excellent allowing a short walk to the Minster and Shambles. The room was a little small, but was comfortable and clean. Entrance to the Car Park was tight, and manoeuvring was difficult.

The location of this hotel was just perfect with a short walk to the center of the city. The was good parking on site available at a small additional charge. The beer garden was brilliant with ample, bookable seating and a fantastic pizza wagon in addition to the restuarent that served amazing food that could be ordered from the table. The restaurant was great. We ate in on our first evening and I have to be honest in saying it was one of the best meals we have had in a while. Bloody Mary Crayfish Cocktail, Crab Salad, Beef Short Rib and Lamb Rump, fantastic. Breakfast was very good as well although the continental should have included cold meats and cheeses We had a superior double room that was comfortable and well appointed. Our room was on the lower ground floor (140) and we didn't notice this when booking. I think all superior doubles are on this level. There was just one small window that was at ground level at the side of the hotel. Fortunately it was quiet on that side. We did have a problem in that our room was not serviced on the second day. Apparently it is pointed out to guests that this will not be carried out unless specifically asked for and approval for staff to enter the room is given. This is the first hotel I have stayed at with this ruling and both my wife and I are 100% clear that this was not pointed out on check in. Reception were adamant that it was so we agreed to disagree. The staircase down to the lower ground is narrow and it was difficult, although just manageable for me to navigate with a suitcase. This staircase was the only access to the lower ground that we could see and therefore the only exit if a fire occurs. We didn't raise this but it would be a concern. There is also no phone in the bedroom with direct contact to reception. These concerns did not detract from what was a memorable stay in York but prevented me scoring a maximum.

The hotel was lovely Staff were happy and friendly Location really good. Just thought breakfast was expensive. Granola was on the main breakfast list at £18. That's the only time ive ever that. But the bacon egg bap was good.
