Great city centre location close to everything Noise throughout the night from food truck generator in the market square
-
Friendly staff, clean room, complimentary teas and biscuits. They provide you with earplugs for the noise (which to be honest, we didn't even use as the music didn't bother us much, despite the open window) The room was cramped, there wasn't a lot of space to put your things (luggage, clothes, toiletries).
-
Slamming kegs right outside my window at 6 am. But the earplugs were thoughtful and definitely helped

I didn’t mind the noise so much as I had been warned in advance and was able to take steps to minimize that, but others might find it challenging. Noise from the pub was fine as they close at midnight, but my room looked out onto the main square and you could hear people from other bars and clubs making their way home in the early hours of the morning. I’d say that if you’re a light sleeper or don’t have ways of blocking out noise, try to request a room that’s not at the front of the building.

The bed was extremely comfortable Good bathroom Excellent location Friendly staff Didn't get a good night's sleep because of the noise even with earplugs provided. Was pricey bearing in mind we had to sleep through loud music and vibrations. Wouldn't have been so bad if the price was taken into consideration.

It was very convenient for the center of the city. Everything was in easy reach. We were there on the weekend and the live music was very loud. It didn’t run too terribly late, so it was OK. We were aware that it was happening.

The owner was so lovely and welcoming. I will definitely stay again on my return to York.

The rooms are basic but we did not plan to stay in the rooms. Shower where lovely and warm and large radiator in the bedroom to keep us Cosy throughout the night as got cold later into the evening. Great location and in the middle of everything. Over all we would definitely come back here to stay. Plenty more we are wanting to see of York. Many thanks ? Nothing about the place we did not like, it was just right for us

The ruins of an actual Roman bath beneath us was very cool! The bathroom was very small.

We would stay here again

Beds were really uncomfortable

We could open the windows in the family room and it did cool down. The location was excellent for visiting the shops! We had 2 rooms. The showers were very small, and the handle did not stay up right. The family room had windows that opened, the other room's windows were broken. The other room had a heater stuck on too, so the second room was a sauna. Oh yeah, Wednesday night karaoke until 11pm. You could hear every bad note from the rooms right above the pub.
-
The facility in close to the historical district, so nice being in an historical Inn for this visit. Room faced the public courtyard/common area. Therefore, noisy outside much of the night and into the early morning hours.
-
Room was very comfortable. Location a little far from York center.
-
Nice staff, great central location. They do mention about the possibility of street noise but this was fine whilst I was there. Fairly uncomfortable beds and old fixtures.
-
Staff were friendly enough, location great for the city Bed was a bit spongy, location very noisy but thats to be expected, main issue was that i had someone trying to break into my room which resulted in the police being called, was assured by the manager that they would take steps to prevent this in future but it did not make for a relaxing stay !!

Location for a short city break was perfect. There was a food festival going on just outside the hotel. Easy to walk everywhere and the staff were very friendly. Its a lovely old building, but the windows to the noisy market street did not close properly. The shower in our room did not work at all - we had NO running water out of the shower and had to "sponge bath" in the small sink.
-
Stuffy room required the window to be open which let in a lot of outside noise
-
The location of The Roman Bath was absolutely perfect! My room was clean and ready as soon as I arrived. The view from my room was adorable and I felt truly immersed in the city center. The property did not feel quite as secure as I would have liked as a solo traveler. The shower could not maintain consistent temperatures and was either chilly or very warm. Noise from the beer garden could be disruptive into the evening.

The room was cold, and our window didn't close all the way.
