This was a nice place to stay and we enjoyed the facilities. There are five hot baths to choose from, either on your own or with 1-2 other people. The hours of the baths are good and the property was clean and pleasant. We were surprised that a Japanese Ryokan would not have any Japanese staff but the staff who work there are lovely and they all speak Japanese. The rooms were nice - we had booked two for our family - but the beds were horrible - as hard as rocks. The food was good as dinner and breakfast were both included and we enjoyed trying lots of delicious things! Drinks can be purchased with dinner and if you want something to drink outside of meal time, there is a Lawson's right next door to the hotel. The hotel is walking distance from both bus and train stations and we enjoyed being able to walk around the town easily. The beds were unfortunately horrible - they were clean but as hard as sleeping on the floor. For this reason, I would be reluctant to stay here again despite all the other positive things.

The ryokan has five private ofuro that can be used by couples (or families), which is a nice touch. There's a Lawson konbini just outside the parking. The coffee machine in the common room is good. The tiny shower cubicle is where the room's only (microscopic) sink is located. It's about as convenient as an airplane bathroom. Try not to activate the shower while brushing your teeth.

Adorable area, quaint and close to shopping and food options If the onsite restaurant isn’t your speed. The included meals are delicious though! We loved the kitties on site and even had one join us in our room for a bit. The outdoor onsen were lovely. Just be aware there may be (normal) bugs outside! Saw a crazy looking centipede lol. Staff is friendly and free drinks in lobby were a plus! Room lighting was a bit dim but once blinds were drawn it was much better. Bathroom is tight but pretty standard for countryside Japan.

Service and meal was good. All private onsens. The bed was hard as a rock. Did not sleep well, bathroom super tiny. A little far from the station but walkable.

Older, character Ryokan. Good location, short distance to train station.

The staff was very friendly. We appreciated that they had private onsens allowing you to relax with your partner. They had a couple indoor onsens and a couple outdoor onsens. We found the outdoor onsens nicer than the indoor onsen, however, the water was hotter in the indoor onsen so we used them more. The room was very spacious and included a private bathroom with separate private shower. There was a dining table with small fridge and microwave. The included robes and slippers were a nice touch. It was conveniently located a few steps from a Lawson Station. It was about 10-15 minute walk to the main shopping and restaurant area. The included breakfast was excellent, traditional Japanese set menu. One thing that took us a minute to figure out was getting hot water in the shower / bathtub. You had to use a panel in the shower room to get the hot water. The restaurant with the hotel only allowed you to eat with a reservation. It would have been great to grab an evening meal there spontaneously.

Free bicycle, private onsen Quite far from JR station and Kirin lake

The lady with hair hangs who’s working at the dining area was really nice The room was extremely cold. The head of the bed was right next to a wall with a window, and the window was not sealed tightly at all. Cold air kept coming in, and the heater in the room was not strong enough to warm it up. We could barely sleep because of the cold. 2. The onsen temperature was not warm enough at night. We were told the temperature was set properly, but because it was very cold outside, the outdoor onsen became too cold to enjoy in the evening. 3. On top of that, there was a very strong kerosene heater smell (from a radiant heater) last night. The smell was overwhelming, gave us a headache, and even got into our clothes, which made the experience quite uncomfortable. Overall, these issues made our stay much less relaxing than expected.

Very nice hotel with 5 private onsen. There are free rental bicycles. The area is only 7 min walks from the Yufuin station and there is Lawson nearby.

★★★★★ A Memorable Short Stay We spent two nights here and were thoroughly impressed. · Staff: Unbelievably attentive and kind. Every request was met with a smile and swift action. They are a huge credit to the resort. · Onsen Facility: Serene, clean, and the perfect temperature. It was the highlight of our relaxation. · Restaurant: The food was superb. We had both dinner and breakfast and were delighted by the quality and flavor. · The Pets: This was the unexpected joy of our trip! The resident cats and dog are so friendly and added a wonderful, heartwarming touch to the entire experience. A short but absolutely perfect stay. The staff's dedication and the charming animal residents made it unforgettable. We will be back!
