The private onsen was amazing! The room was well appointed and comfortable. We had tons of space to relax and a fantastic view. Breakfast was also lovely. Bed was a bit hard for our tastes, but most beds we’ve slept on in Japan have been that way. The property was also a bit far from the main shopping and dining area near the station, especially if you’re walking. We did take advantage of the shuttle as we were leaving for this reason.

- Room is comfortable and spacious with private indoor and outdoor hot spring (onsen) - Staff was friendly and helpful - Excellent breakfast and dinner by 3 stars hotel - Shuttle bus to and from Yufuin train station daily - Free mini bar in room with beers and soft drinks which were replenished daily - Lounge with nice view and free coffee, tea, soft drink and alcohol for guests to enjoy - The room has split levels with two steps from bed level to sitting room. Need to be careful. - It was a bit difficult to book a shuttle bus because you had to call to make an appointment. If guests didn't have Japanese phone numbers, they had to use public phone or ask for help at the station or use the taxi - The stepping stones led to the room are uneven and a bit hard to walk for old people

I stayed at this hotel with my family and overall had a very positive experience. The room was larger than expected, which made a big difference, especially traveling with a toddler. One of the highlights was having both a private indoor and outdoor bath, which made the stay feel much more relaxing and special. There was also a lounge area with drinks available, which was a nice touch. What really stood out, though, was the staff. They were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay. At one point, I needed to get some supplies for our toddler, and they kindly drove me on the hotel shuttle to the nearest pharmacy, which I really appreciated. On the downside, the lighting in the hotel could be improved. While the dinner setting itself was lovely, the lighting felt uneven, with some areas brightly lit by spotlights and others quite dim. This contrast was a bit harsh on the eyes and not ideal for my elderly parents or our toddler. More ambient lighting would help create a more evenly lit and cosy atmosphere. Similarly, the room lighting only had on/off options. It would be much better if some lights could be adjusted with dimmers to create a more comfortable and relaxing environment.

We love everything about this Ryokan. The food was amazing. The lounge was cute.

The facility looked exactly like the photos on their website and Booking page. The food was top-notch, the rooms were clean and had everything you could need, and the private indoor and outdoor baths were fantastic! The staff also knew how to speak English, and it wasn't hard to ask for a pick-up from Yufuin station.

Incredible stay. Rooms were spacious. Private onsen was incredible and beautiful. Amenities were plentiful and high quality. Super comfortable beds. Top notch service and meals were superb. Location is tucked away from the busy streets but very close by. Nothing!

Having a private outdoor onsen is nice. The staff was extremely kind and helpful. The lounge on the second floor of the main building is a nice place to hang out. The food was good, but nothing extraordinary. Just a typical ryokan dinner. As nice as it is, I think it is too expensive for what it offers. The room was quite cold in December. For the Onsen, you need to regulate the temperature yourself. It’s a bit finicky in the beginning until you have a good temperature. Since there is no thermometer you have to kind of guess that it has the right temperature. If I pay this much for a stay, I don’t want to spend the first 20-30 min in the onsen meddling with hot and cold water faucets, trying to get it to an acceptably high temperature. If you want a private onsen available to you at all times (at the cost of a high price and of figuring out the temperature yourself), this is an okay place. If that isn’t too important, then there are other ryokan for a fraction of the price yet with much newer facilities and in a much better location. Those have private onsen too (shared with other rooms, but private to you when you use them).

Multilingual staff on site. Ability to book in room massage. Private onsen. My biggest gripe is if we book two nights we were not given wagyu as an option for day 2 for our main. If chicken was to be served I believe we should have been notified ahead of time. An excuse was given that the second night is something different and nothing can be changed now because meals have already been prepared. But that’s a weak excuse when you can always order wagyu as an add-on to the meal! Staff while friendly had inconsistency in their service. Some gave us two tea cup with tea some gave us tea with the kettle. More training and standardization might be needed here.

Staffs are friendly, you feel very welcome! Nice location too. Clean up the onsen area a little better.

The hotel is located a 15-minute walk uphill from the train station. The rooms are spacious and warm. The hot spring water feels a little slimy. The dining experience was unpleasantly surprising. The staff were always rushing somewhere. Some of the food was already on the table and did not look very fresh. They put a label on the sashimi that was stuck to the fish. Tea was simply forgotten to be brought. There were big pauses between serving dishes. Some of the dishes were cold. Many consumables in the hotel (chopsticks, tea in the room) were very cheap and did not match the class of the hotel

The staff was not professional enough, the day we arrived was snowing, and they messed up our stays. Originally we booked 3 rooms but the concierge told us we reserved only 2 until I showed her my confirmation info in gmail then she asked us to stay put outside and under the snow and let her figure out the reservation. We were 4 adult with 2 70+ elders and an 1 year old infant and stood in the snow for a while. That female concierge is unprofessional at all.

The location was perfect and well-kept. We loved the privacy of the property and the gorgeous design features of our suite, and the layout.

private onsen in the room hotel is quite small which i didn't expect

I recently had an unforgettable stay at this wonderful hot spring resort, and I can’t recommend it enough! The environment is absolutely stunning, with serene surroundings that instantly put you at ease. The facilities are top-notch, offering everything you need for a relaxing and rejuvenating experience. What truly stood out, however, was the exceptional staff. They were incredibly warm, attentive, and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. My friend even noticed that, as we drove away, the staff continued waving goodbye until we were completely out of sight even in rainy day. It’s these thoughtful touches that made our stay so memorable. Im One minor issue I encountered was with the indoor hot spring. The water temperature felt a bit lukewarm for my liking, and while the staff kindly showed us how to adjust it, the process was still challenging. Since the adjustment involves working with the pipes, it’s quite inconvenient to make changes mid-bath, especially when you’re already in the water. It would be great if there were a simpler, more user-friendly method for adjusting the hot spring temperature, perhaps with easier controls or pre-set options, to avoid the hassle of dealing with pipes during the bath. This small improvement could make the experience even more enjoyable.
