Hotel de Munck
About Hotel de Munck
Hotel De Munck was built in 1727 where it served as a captain’s residence, we have retained its historical charm throughout the building. Our hotel is located in a quiet street beside the Amstel River, opposite to the Frederiksplein and 8-minute walk from Waterloo Square and Rembrandt Square. All of the guest rooms are contemporarily furnished with private shower and toilet. We are conveniently located to the Van Gogh Museum, Rai Congress, Koninklijk Theater Carré and the Albert Cuijp Market. During spring and summer time the cozy garden is filled with beautiful flowers. The tram stop is just around the corner, and the metro station is within a 10-minute walk. Utrechtsestraat, located nearby, offers a wide variety of shops and restaurants.

A bit old facilities but convenient and all right

It was clean:) The owner was nice They had fridge and coffee downstairs I like the view My child had weird rush , and I thought it might have been mosquitoes or bed bugs so they offered complimentary laundry . And Ryan was kind and very responsive ! He was trying so hard ! ( not the reception girl lol ). Only if you read fine print - you can find out there are 3 flights of stairs and no elevator lol I arrived after the reception was closed so I had to ask men to help me . They had fridge downstairs and coffee and I found out on my own the next day only . They should have mention it when I asked for fridge , cups and spoons ?

Great location and staff were amazingly kind and helpful. We appreciated the ability to make our own breakfast but have access to tea and coffee. For a city centre location, the price was very reasonable. The family room was a little cramped for 3 of us but we knew that this would be the case in advance.

Very attentive and helpful staff. And just a block from the main canal. Restaurants near by. Room 6 top floor. Tough for old man with luggage but staff carried it down for me.

Ryan was so welcoming and friendly. The hotel was close to all of the sites I wanted to see in the city.

The location near the tram in the center of Amsterdam was excellent. The room had everything I needed, but was very simple. The old building had steep and narrow staird and my room was on the third floor. It was difficult to face the climb, especially with luggage, but once there I really did like the room. my main objection to this property was that there were no amenities. The coffee that was offered were little packages that you had to remember to take to your room and there were no coffee cup in the room. In the three nights I was there, no one offered to check on my room or change the towel. I survived and was away from the room much of the day seeing the city, but the exorbitant price of the apartment made the choice seem less than excellent.

The bed was ok and the room was small but clean. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious and all in all the room had what was needed. This is not a real hotel and I would avoid if you're on a business trip. For the price, even given Amsterdam's reputation, this was not good value for money. I needed to use the online check-in as the reception closes at 20:00 and I was running a conference (followed by social mixer). The online checkin system claimed success, but I discovered it wanted my credit card details as well - entered, and still no access to the hotel. Access was granted around 6pm just as I was about to leave the event to go physically to the hotel before the reception closed. This is not what I need when I'm on a business trip, I would recommend to avoid, there are other options. Note, the entry system worked smoothly once access was granted and I was happy to gain entry without problems. The room was small (expected), but the fittings are the bare minimum and the bathroom in particular was very old. All in all the quality bears no correspondence with the price and is another reason to avoid. The street noise (right next to a park where some guys were still playing football at midnight) kept me awake.

Very close to center. Supermarket right nearby and small park. Practical place. Very kind and helpful staff.

Very friendly staff Location is perfect away from the mess but also close to the city center Nothing actually If you are on budget, this is a very good facility with decent staff services and location

Great location All good

Perfect stay, location is ideal, very comfortable room, warm (which is fundamental for Amsterdam in winter) and team is very welcoming and supportive!

The room was clean. Nothing fancy, but comfy (the heating worked pretty well). The neighborhood was calm (silent at night), but with lot of food options and shops around, as well as a super market in the same street. Tram stops for different lines were a couple of minutes by walking and metro a bit more, but within 10 minutes range. The city center is within 25-30 minutes by walking: I would definitely recommend to take the walk as it's very beautiful. The shower was partially open to the rest of the bathroom, so you have to take showers close to the wall to avoid flooding the bathroom. I "fixed" the problem by using a big towel at the entrance of the shower. Not ideal.

The staff is super helpful, friendly. Ryan is the best and will answer or research whatever you need while you enjoy a free coffee or tea in the dining area. Location is great. All kinds of restaurants, bars, cafes, bakeries, bistros, cheese shops, Italian markets, a grocery store, right out the front door along Utrechtsestraat. Dutch, Indonesian, Italian, Chinese, vegetarian. Seafood, MEAT and more… Michelin winners. Easy walk to Dam Park, Rijk Museum, Anne Frank, Van Gogh, Central Train Station. Tram stop 2 minutes away. And of course canals galore. The rooms are tight but up to date, clean and comfortable. Mind you the building is 300 years old. Bathroom and shower are also excellent. And unlike some Booking locations, you control the heat. If you have a room on the upper floors, the staircase is an adventure BUT it’s Amsterdam. It comes with the territory. And need be they’ll help you with your luggage. I liked everything about the property.

Clean, close to downtown and main Street

The stuff was very nice and accommodating, very friendly and helpful with every request. They checked us in earlier than expected. The location is great, close to public transit but not too close to the noise of the center. The room was on the last floor and the stairs were very steep - but the staff helped us with the suitcases.

Location was excellent. 20 minute walk to almost everything. Easy tram access. Grocery store downstairs. The open air market with the BEST food is 10 minutes The stairs are VERY steep to get to the top. Can’t really complain , but if you don’t like confined spaces, it may not be your place…at least the 3rd and 4th floors. Ryan will help you eve if you don’t think you can do it!

Great location, easy to walk into the city centre and to near by restaurants Located near a park and beside a restaurant so can be quiet loud at night and the vending machine outside of the ground floor room can be heard from inside the room
