    The small rooms

  • Engine customer Jun 2026

Breakfast was very good, room location was good. The room was very dark and did not look like the pictures on the website when it was booked.

the location was good…other than that pretty much NOTHING! we did not appreciate having a 3-5 room cleaning…when we are in Amsterdam on vacation and like to have a afternoon nap…the honor bar system was ridiculous m-we had been to others at other hotels. Here you had pay it immediately and on a credit card only! could not build a “tab” or pay later-very strange. The bathroom was dirty and shower water did not go down the drain…also smallest room we have ever stayed in for over $450 nightly.

The hotel is well located, easy to access from public transport and really close to the park. There are a lot of restaurants close by and easy to get to. I guess the only thing I could think of is that the window was facing a building so you get very little daylight, especially for a hotel with a darker theme. So it always seems like it's darker outside than it really is.

I loved the location, liked the confidently small but comfy bed and bathroom, enjoyed the lobby lounge. The booking, ans check- in were confusing. I did book for my 3months old baby, but had to pay extra at reception for a baby crib I didn't need nor use, plus it was stealing extra room in the small room and broken when the team member wanted to put it up. The poor guy did work for nothing since we again did not use nor ask for it.

The walls are very thin, so you can hear chats in the next room. Very compact room. Unfortunately my stay overlapped with Harry Styles being in concert, so the room was overpriced to my mind. Not the hotel's fault, but I felt I overpaid.

Comfortable and stylish, well located on the edge of everything within reach without being busy and noisy Construction around the area FYI but that’s temporary, and did not affect my sleeping.

Did not like the carpet flooring and bathroom sink was oddly shaped.

Located close to the downtown area. It was easy to walk to the museum quarter to catch Tram to the Central Station. The breakfast is overrated. The scrambled eggs were a little dry, juice was limited, the price a little high for what was available and the seating crowded.

I was surprised by the large price difference I experienced through Booking.com. I initially booked a night for around €300, but later found out that the actual price for the same room and night was about €100. When I needed to extend my stay, I paid only €89 per night. This kind of discrepancy feels very unfair and misleading. It makes it difficult to trust the pricing when booking through the platform.

The place has a nice atmosphere and there are some nice design details, the bed is the most cozy one I had in the trip this time, located close to the museums, I enjoyed a lot! The coffee table and clothes hangers area is a bit too dark inside the room

location super good room to small no fridge in the room breakfast far too expensive i had only for one day no fridge in my room no bottle of water room to small i had two luggages no space for both

Good location - great staff. Rooms were quite basic for prices. No closet or place to store clothes other than a rack with a couple hooks (no place to store socks etc). Also wifi was non existent within room. Could not get connected to the internet the whole time.

The wifi in my room never worked, despite reporting it a few times. Truly a lovely hotel otherwise, but not having the wifi was inconvenient.

The Hotel is very well located, very close to the center but not in the super crowded and busy area. The breakfast was really good: scrambled eggs, homemade bread and the gouda cheese was the best. The Hotel Hall was also really nice and the rooms from the basement (where we stayed) had a lot of natural light. The room was super spacious and the bathroom was really nice. We had a tea kettle and a coffee machine. The staff was also really kind and polite, I recommend this hotel! There are only a few things that could be improved: smart TVs in the rooms (or a device to make it smart), maybe a toaster for breakfast, but that’s not important.

The hotel is very nice, all staffs were so nice, the interior is unique, the room size was okay for me travelling solo and the bed was soooo comfortable. And there’s coffee machine in the room! Hotel’s location is very close to everything, 30mins from airport by bus, trams and bus stop can be reach just by walking approx. 5 mins. There’s AH near the hotel so I enjoyed staying at Hotel Van De Vijsel.

The hotel has a beautiful design, but functionality and attention to detail were often missing. My room was generally clean, but there were huge cobwebs in the ceiling corner that hadn’t been cleaned for a long time until I specifically mentioned it. Even after daily cleaning, the carpet still had visible dirt - not a thorough job. While the public areas look great, it seems there are no proper service rooms, so every day and night I had to walk through hallways full of cleaning carts — which completely ruined the atmosphere. Another inconvenience: the lobby door can only be opened from the inside by reception, so I found myself waiting outside several times until someone noticed me or happened to be at the desk — not a welcoming experience. Regarding the room itself, the mattress was far too soft, causing back pain every morning. In the bathroom, there was no countertop near the sink for personal toiletries, the lighting was too dim for shaving or makeup, the toilet paper holder was oddly placed, and there was no shelf in the shower. Towels were always left on the bed (since there was no shelf or proper hanger in the bathroom), so I had to step out wet every day to get one. The room had no sofa or seating area despite having enough space for one, no minibar, and no complimentary bottle of water. Coffee supplies were also mismatched — four capsules but only two sugars and milk powders — clearly not much thought behind it. Small improvements could make a big difference, but without them, the experience doesn’t justify the price compared to nearby hotels offering better value.

Very spacious and the room and hotel design were really nice

Location is great. WiFi is superior. Good value for its price. There are almost no sunlight in the room. But expected by the value/price.
