We had 6 people on our reservation and we were only offered one key, I had to push to get more. Our room was stocked with only two bath towels and no washcloths, except for one that was hanging up in the bathroom and already dirty. The floor was also a bit sticky. Another minor thing was there is not an elevator. We had packed a few heavy boxes anticipating there would be elevator access.

Water was coming from the base of the toilet once flushed - water in floor coming from room next door. Dirty water coming from tub drain. This was found when we woke up in the morning. The air was damp while sleeping. The coffee in lobby didn’t have cream available. Told the front desk about the room. They apologized for the inconvenience. That was it ! We spent money on this !

Check out couldn’t find anyone at the desk, bell ringer didn’t get their attention

The hotel lobby was clean and bright, the desk people were friendly and proficient, the room had a distinct odor like dirty carpets, we only stayed one night so it met our needs at the time, probably wouldn't stay there again.

The beds were great. But, it was the worst Wyndham I have ever stayed at. Will not stay here in the future.
-
No towels at the pool. had to go ask for them and then it was a small pretty useless one. AC was great and the beds were very good. Not worth $200 a night. Several other hotels are in the neighborhood go stay there. I have ever stayed in many Wyndham hotels this is at the bottom of them. I will not stay here in the future.

Very friendly staff, clean room and pool. Excellent price.

Breakfast in the diner was a good experience. Good coffee.

Hotel was pretty run down, ceilings were leaking, smelled of smoke, doors didn't close properly. The site sold the rooms as adjoining, but there is no such thing once we arrived. Front desk staff was nice.

Stayed here 2nd year in a row during the Iowa State Fair. Though ut is clearly an older property it was recently fully renovated & upgraded to modern decor. Friendly staff, nice warm pool & even comes with coupon to use for breakfast at attached diner.

Price was awesome! Room was clean. It is located next to a busy interstate and you could not hear the traffic from our room which faced the interstate. The carpet in the hallway was dated.
-
Room wasn’t swept so probably not mopped either, hallway carpets were really gross and the hall had an unpleasant odor. The staff wasn’t super friendly but were helpful when asked. The pool was really nice and the best part of the place. I’d stay again in a pinch but for 200 bucks a night and a bit of a drive to Des Moines proper, I’d expect a bit more effort with cleaning and amenities.

That said, the hotel felt more like a 2-star property than a 3-star hotel. The shower did not work properly, which was frustrating. Even more concerning, when we pulled back the covers we discovered dirty socks in one of the beds that did not belong to us. That made us question how thoroughly the room had been cleaned. There was also an exterior door at the opposite end of the building from the lobby with a broken lock that could not be secured, which was concerning from a safety standpoint. Overall, the reasonable price and availability of a three-bed room were major positives, and the room had some nice updates. However, the cleanliness issue, broken shower, and unsecured exterior door were significant enough that I would have expected better from a 3-star hotel.

Outside looks ok. One, they DO NOT have an elevator. We had to drag all of our bags (one weeks worth) up a flight of stairs and ALL the way down the hall. We had the room with 3 beds so it was located at the end of the building. There are multiple entrances and exits but the one closest to our room seemed to be broken - security issue. Once in room my son and I did an inspection for bed bugs. We didn’t see any, however we saw evidence of dead one (blood) on the comforter. So that means at some point they had them and who knows what room it was from. We were not able to get housekeeping until the day before we left even after asking MULTIPLE Times. I even asked another hotel guest and she said she had to ask multiple times as well but she was able to get her room cleaned. They even left a note to promise cleaning and didn’t offer it. They only provided 3 towels so we had to get additional. But in the end I was over it so my family and I walked out trash and dirty towels to the lobby in order to get our clean towels and trash dumped. The only good thing is they offer free breakfast at the diner next door and my kids enjoyed the pool. Otherwise, this place is TERRIBLE. OH, to get hot water in the shower, it had to run 4-5 minutes first. A true waste of water. I think Motel 6 is a better option.

The bathroom was very dirty, both the tub and the jacuzzis especially. There also was not clean soap there was just a used bar from the previous tenant. The bathroom door couldn’t be opened all the way because of the toilet blocking it. There was trash by the beds when we arrived. Overall was just very dirty.

To add to this, the pool was freezing and had no poolside towels, the tiles around the pool were dirty. The room had a crack in the ceiling and showed signs of leakage. The outdoor window had a crack in it and was "fixed" with electrical tape, and had a gap in the trim that was letting bugs in. The cleaning people left a cleaning spray in the bathroom. Overall, room and hotel were very rough and didn't feel clean. This weekend was supposed to be a fun time with my daughter and her best friend before school starts. A weekend away from home in a hotel that we can forget our troubles in. Unfortunately, I picked the wrong hotel for that type of weekend. Will not stay at this hotel again.

It was musty and smelly. Its been redone but you can tell its still falling apart.

The hotel was close to Drake University. The breakfast was provided by the diner attached to the hotel was great. The hotel staff were friendly and respectful. Need more housekeeping staff to ensure hotel remains clean.

Staff was very helpful seemed like they care about their job. Room was dirty. Mold in bathroom and of course I’m sick now. Had to clean the toilet myself. Shower had soap on the walls and hair in tub. They need to change the ac filters for sure. They could be a really nice hotel but need to re educate the housekeepers. Also only one towel set for 4 people in a 2 queen bed room so bought our own towels. There was an open bar of soap and a travel lotion but no other complementaries. Also it’s a 2 story hotel with no elevator so make sure to ask for a ground floor room if you’re not able to climb stairs.
