Its lonely, I got there amd they soon wsntex to keep my DL , the place is lonely. The towels are black, the smell os sewer in the rooms is soo nastt. They dont clean the rooms daily or take the trash out. They charge you for clean towels, they lock the front door daily and no one stays in property overnight in case of an emergency. The place is not worth what they charge daily. I have stayed in other placed in Bacalar and they do not compare. The restaurant opened only 2 days after 1pm. Horrible experience I did not like they dont care about the guests. They dont clean the rooms daily. Or take any trash out. The towels are color black and nasty. They charge you if you want clean towels. There is only 1 door dividing the rooms and you can hear the next guest speaking like if they were in your room. There was hole in the restroom with bare electrical wires close to the shower. There is no one there in case of an emergency at night. They lock a white door and no one stays. The restaurant does not open daily . The smell of sewer is nasty!! They are not friendly at all. The rooms are only separated by a door smd you can hear the noise from the other rooms.

The hotel is just like pictures in the pictures nice. Was not provided a phone number for help the staff leaves at 7pm and returns at 10 am so you are on your own. They don't allow you to bring food or drinks but the restaurant also closes at 630pm. They don't clean your room unless you pay you have to pay extra for towels since you have to take out your own trash they should give you bags but they didn't.

My Family and I had a lovely stay at El Buho and will definately come again, if we have a chance. Everything was perfect: clean, friendly stuff, delicuous food and the view - it is just more than GREAT ? Thanks a lot! I will definately recommend it.

    Very good

The beach club and restaurant is a separate company from the hotel so if you wanna eat and drink there you have to go with their quite overpriced menu. Discount for guests staying there would be nice.

Location right on the water. Beautiful So many problems. Hurricane was due to hit so flight was cancelled and rescheduled for a day later, but they would not refund us. There were 7 of us in 3 rooms, no refunds. One night the power went out and we had electronic key cards that would not work. It was very very hot and we had to keep the door opened for fresh air but none of us slept because we were afraid… having been robbed in bed before… we called emailed and texted all the numbers for help because there is no staff there at night… not even one reply. So very rude. I absolutely would not recommend this place. Nobody here takes any responsibility… it was very aggravating. No one ever responded and the Italian owner was at the property the day before. Bad business and unsafe. Techo house music starts at noon daily. Bummer because it’s so peaceful before then. You have to pay extra, a daily fee to hang out in those huts. 1/2 hour walk to town… in the heat it’s pretty brutal. So save your taxi drivers number do you can use him again. They sell day passes for people to come use these facilities fyi. Foods not good here but it was great at both hotel restaurants on both sides of us. Short 3 or 4 min walk

The view from the rooms is amazing! Hanging outside during the day was beautiful and comfortable. The staff had good drink service during their limited hours: 12:00pm-8:00pm The neighboring hotels on both sides (Raiz & Los Aluxes) had great Wifi, food and service. We were very grateful they were nearby! I've never felt so unsafe in a hotel before. The staff is entirely gone at 8:00pm when the 'beach club' closes. I was with a group of 7 girls and while the gate locks at night, we are exposed to the lagoon. We weren't too worried for our first 3 nights, but then the electricity went out on the 4th night. The hotels on both side were well-lit, so it was a fuse issue. No emergency contact was provided so we called all of the numbers on the website multiple times. It was HOT so we had to keep our doors open (with loose screens). A couple of hours after the electricity went out, the battery that runs the locks also stopped working. I called and/or messaged every hour between 11:00pm and 6:00am because we truly were scared and several of us did not sleep. We were 7 girls alone in a hotel exposed to the lagoon in a dark hotel with no ability to lock ourselves in or rooms to keep us safe and no action or even a response from the hotel management. My messages were ignored until 9:30am. They said there were power outages all over the city, yet our neighbors were all well-lighted. 'Coincidentally' at 12:03pm the next day, just after their staff arrived to run the beach club, power was restored. We went 11 hours with no electricity and had a sleepless, unsafe night. I asked management to refund that night but was ignored. This is not a 3-star hotel and very overpriced....it isn't even a hotel as you are totally on your own (not even an emergency contact) from 8:00pm - 8:00am, when the front-desk person arrives (He/She should learn where the fuse box is.) They only clean your room if you stay more than 3 nights. The Wifi only started working after the power outage when they flipped the fuse. If you book here, keep your expectations low.

The setting and beach club facility was pretty however on the weekend it was full of young people just trying to get the posing shots. We seemed to be the only couple wanting to swim and have fun in the water. Monday was completely opposite and was totally quiet. The rooms are very secure with a highly sophisticated key card system. We were extremely disappointed with our stay. I booked this initially as more of a "luxury stay" for my partners birthday however for the price point I absolutely wouldn't recommend this place. Room and deck seemed run down and staff quite rude. We weren't told anything about the facilities at check-in but it turns out the bar and restaurant on site doesn't open until 1pm so we were unable to get any food or drink in the morning. Luckily we had some water with us because the only bottle that was provided we had used to fill the coffee machine. My partner went in search of a coffee in the morning because our coffee machine in the room didn't work (mentioned to the girl on the desk but nothing got done about it) but because of the location being so far out of town there was nothing easily accessible and after 10 minutes of walking around he finally found a hotel that allowed him to buy a coffee there. There are no staff working after 9pm and until 9am which means there's no one to ask questions to (like where to buy food, coffee or water - or for any extras needed) and we were only provided with half a toilet roll so when that ran out we had to go and take sheets out of the common area toilet. We're not fussy people and are totally okay living with basic (we stayed in a no AC, no running water beach hut before moving to this place) but when you pay this sort of price you except a certain level of service and standard that we just didn't receive. Some useful info to note on the rooms (we stayed in Fuscia) - the outside terrace is shared with the next door room with only a planter to separate you. There is no drawers or wardrobe in the room (wasn't an issue for 2 nights but any more than that I like to be able to unpack!).

Beautiful location. Friendly staff. Room was on the small side.

Some advice, take the hour kayak rental over breakfast as the options are bland and boring. You can kayak to some really beautiful spots first in the morning, then get a real breakfast in town. The restaurant does have good (Italian) food for lunch/dinner and plenty of drink options. All the staff, from the hotel to the restaurant, were very friendly and helpful. Expect to be charged for everything extra (management). Loud inescapable pop/edm music is played from speakers in every corner of the property from noon to 8pm. This degree of audible stimulus will transform any experience, so prepare yourself for top 40s dance hit to drown out any sounds of birds and waves. Be advised: the A-frame rooms do not have any bathroom separation. As absurd as it sounds, you practically use the toilet for a bedside table. Zero privacy. Also, the hot water never arrived. We would not stay there again.

It had wifi and was in Bacalar Honestly I left a review on trip advisor too. I got into town a day early so I tried out another hotel in town on the water for half the price. If they’d had space I’d have gone back there even with the non refundable room fee because the difference was so big. The breakfast was halfassed The bedroom was live laugh love by Lisa Frank with institutional lighting and a weird entry exist system with a bed that made noise and moved all night Despite my telling them in both Spanish ms English in writing and in person it was my birthday during the 3 night stay they didn’t care enough to wish me a happy birthday This is my least favourite place I’ve stayed of my so far three weeks in Mexico
