The welcoming by Javier at the reception was exceptional, and so were the chefs at the kitchen during breakfast and the cleaning staff. Not that we required it, but perhaps providing access to the kitchen and pool to guests with disabilities could be something to think about.

Wonderful hotel overall...very clean and esthetically pleasing...great staff, nice breakfasts, good location for exploring bacalar Provide chair in room for desk

We loved our stay at Hotel Tuparenda and might stay here again soon! The breakfast was fantastic! The cooks were gracious and so accommodating! The front desk gentleman was also awesome! He was very helpful and provided accurate information. Two of the front desk gentlemen even helped us get taxis. Also, appreciated that they shared about the available tours and provided drinking water. This is key when travelling through Mexico as tap water is not drinkable. The room was clean and the facilities were absolutely lovely! We appreciated the third floor being so beautiful! Love the way they decorated the place. Another plus is that it is just down the street from the public access to the lagoon. Right next to that is the very inexpensive (20 MXN Pesos) entrance. We loved this hotel! Thanks to all the staff for making this a wonderful stay! This hotel was a breath of fresh air! It was mostly a great experience! The only concern, and it's a big concern, which we flagged for the front desk gentleman, is that we had a very negative experience with one of the taxi drivers that the front desk gentleman flagged for us. We were under the impression that he had settled on a price for the ride. We were under the impression that they had agreed on 200 MXN Pesos to drive us to Laguna Bonanza, which is right next door to Los Rapidos de Bacalar. When they came to a complete stop, the taxi driver's brother, also a taxi driver, aggressively said the price was 320 MXN Pesos. This was almost double the original amount. We were shocked to say the least and a bit shaken up. We felt we had no choice but to pay them this amount. We thought we were saving some money from Laguna Bonanza, but it was quite a bit more expensive than if we had gone straight to Los Rapidos. We shared this with the front desk person, and he was profusely apologetic! He said that the taxi driver had scammed us. The lesson learned is that even if the hotel helps arrange a taxi ride, the rider should be involved and affirm the price and location! Most taxi drivers, not all, are super sketchy! Don't trust them at all!

I loved the walk ability of this location. Bacalar is one of the loveliest and cohesive places I have ever visited. The amenities and rooms, were top notch, prices excellent, and service A+. Parking was easy and I always found a space right outside the hotel on the street. From the hotel it was easy to walk to the main blvd. which had great dining, a historical fort, and a great view of one of the the lagoons. I only did not like that I had to leave!

Nice little hotel, very close to the laguna and walking distance to the center. The staff is very friendly and does everything they can to make your stay comfortable. Some renovations were ongoing in the surroundings of the hotel, but it didn't bother us much.

Adorable hotel. The breakfast was really good and the staff/owner were helpful with suggesting places to go and helped with getting taxis for us.

Everything. The hotel is wonderful and very comfortable. Really enjoyed the breakfast on the rooftop. Lots of options and delicious. The management was very helpful and super friendly. Muchas gracias, Frank! Everything was perfect!

We loved the friendliness of the staff - especially the owner who was extremely helpful. The location was great, really near to the entrance of the Lake, which costs $20 pesos a day. Fresh water available & breakfast was good. We could hear noise from other residents in their rooms at night, really clearly - snoring, bathrooms doors opening & closing etc so please bring earplugs!

Central, clean, quiet at night, lovely rooftop pool and lounge

Location is great, only a block and so away from the lagoon and a couple blocks away from the ecological public entrance. There is a nice rooftop area with sun loungers, tables, rooftop pool, and it is where they serve a great breakfast! Common courtyard on the ground level with a water cooler for guest use was great. Each level of the hotel has an inside common area to hang out in. The staff were great The mini fridge in our room is super old felt like it was overheating and had to wear earplugs at night it was so loud

The location was great only a block walk down to the boardwalk and a couple more block to the ecological entrance to the lagoon. The included breakfast was great! Hotel has a nice rooftop pool as well as sun loungers and tables We showed staff lightbulbs in our rooms that were burnt out and needed to change- as the rooms were in the courtyard so quite dark, but they never did. courtyard rooms are quite noisy as it’s a meeting place for groups before they left the hotel- not a bad idea to bring earplugs
