Location and the staff 1st class

Staff is very friendly, they give us a lot of recommendations for restaurants and activities, they have an incredible location and they are pet friendly. We have a beautiful stay. The bathroom doesn’t have door knob and it’s uncomfortable the way they put a little hook.

Location Needs maintenance

Honestly, that "hotel" needs a lot of maintenance, the rooms smell horrible. The bathroom is a total mess, it gets all flooded wehn you take a shower. And the ceiling fan looks like it's about to fall over you (very scary). For that price you can find a better option around that road.

Gorgeous setting, friendly staff Very few amenities, building is dated and in need of maintenance. But these things did not detract from the beauty of the environment

The direct access to the lake and the kayaks is very nice. Parking right at the door too Incredibly old and badly kept. Massive hole in the ceiling- dont want to know what is up there. The bathroom was very old and everything just feels dirty/old. Such a shame

We did not like anything about this accommodation No toilet seat and the porcelain was rusty. Balcony door was too hard to open & close (we are seniors). There was no blanket in the room. The pillow cases were filthy. We stayed one night and went to a clean hotel. They did not offer us another room with a toilet seat until we told them we were not staying. I asked the man who showed us into our room about the toilet seat and he said "no seat" The room they offered us after we booked another hotel was on the 3rd floor. I have breathing issues (COPD) and can't walk up 3 flights of stairs. Horrible experience!! I have photos & video to show the toilet (without a seat), and the balcony doors. We expect a full refund from booking.com for this stressful experience. FYI - I have a bowel disorder which means I could be sitting on a toilet several times a day. I can't squat (especially on a rusty toilet) for up to 30 minutes at a time, each time. Anne Guard & John McCluskey

The fact that the lagoon is right by the hotel backyard is awesome The rooms where in really bad shape and not that clean, this accommodation is for people who is only there to sleep

the location on the lake is perfect! close to perfect food locations for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Nice room. Not luxury but good. The staff is not good, for me the 2nd time and again not good. English is far from OK comparing to other EVEN much cheaper hotels. And they do not really understand how you should help, support and help your clients.

La vista Terrible customer service, unsafe and out of date facilities. This place survives on the fact that it’s right on the lagoon. We arrived and were greeted warmly. They reserved a taxi for us for the next day, and when we asked for towels for the lagoon they said they could provide extra with no problem, never mentioned a fee. The lady was very eager to get us to buy kayak service but we kindly declined it. Late that evening when I showered I slipped and fell hard on my right glute. The shower is all slick tile with nothing to keep you from slipping, not grips, not a Mat, nothing, it also on a very steep grade. I complained to the staff and informed my brothers to put a towel on the floor and on the shower floor as they are bigger guys. I let them know that I would probably give them a low rating as I had to take pain meds and my glute was inflamed. I was very angry but nonetheless kept my cool. The manager said I was in my right and understood. Hadn’t paid yet and decided to eat next door. I told them to take the situation into account and they said they would talk to upper management. I let them know that if this was serious they would have to pay for any medical expenses related to the accident (I was in a lot of pain and really trying to keep my composure). When I got back they informed me that I would get a 10% discount. I thought this was an insult and got a bad attitude from the front desk staff. That night I only slept 3 hours.I found that they have a lot of terrible reviews and regretted it because the room only had a fan and was super hot.In the morning I heard the manager say “man I don’t know if the taxi charge was per person or per cab” at this point I was tired of their lack of professionalism and just walked outside and hailed my own cab for less. I asked her to cancel the taxi (it was still 22 minutes to the time and it’s a small town). She became upset and immediately asked about our towels. Not clean, no ac

To be honest, not a lot We read the other comments about it being an old and worn down hotel but thought that it can’t be too bad for the price, but we’re sorry to say that it is not worth it for the price, not at all! - it isn’t located where it is shown on booking! It’s about a 15 min walk down south the lagoon (so 30min walk to the city centre). Look it up on google maps - staff was absolutely unmotivated and every question about a blanket or toilet paper (both was missing in the room!) was answered with hesitation - the room was so worn down: saggy bed , balcony door not closing/opening or only with strong force, no safety box - overall it was cleanish but linen and towels were stained - there is a pier to the lagoon but you don’t have a full view of the lagoon because it’s blocked by a little island

The place is great, the Laguna is beautiful. Book this place to be able to swim in the laguna and chill at the laguna. Beautiful it is! Drinking Water was available ✔️ But... The location is a bit far from the city center by foot. Although taking a taxi cost about 50 pesos which is ok. The description on booking didn't match what I got as a room. I booked a room with view on the Laguna. THEY DON'T HAVE ROOMS WITH A VIEW AT THE LAGUNA!! (See picture of booking which says specific "view on the lake/laguna" I booked also this place, cause they said there was a restaurant. THERE IS NO RESTAURANT IN THE HOSTEL! There are some restaurants in the surroundings, some you have to pay to eat/sit at the laguna which is stupid if you have your hostel at the laguna... No fridge to stock some food or drinks.... There was no hot water In the shower (as they did mention it was there on booking). Not so bad beacause it's so hot outside. But also almost no water coming out of the shower! Washing long hair, not easy! The bathroom is so tiny that you could not stand there with 2 people inside. And feels very claustrophobic... There was no musquito net (as they did mention it was there on booking) As I told them that a lot of things didn't match the description, I ask to pay the price of a normal room. (With no view, basic room) at the price the room was at that moment on booking. (There was a room free on booking still...) they called the responsable... (in very bad English we talked, he couldn't pass cause he was not in town...) He said they don't do that, and they have no rooms left (??). He said to leave and book in some other place if we where not happy. I insisted that I wanted to stay, but it was a shame that he reacted like this (since this room was not what it said on booking ) on top of that, he didn't agree ,and wanted TO CALL THE POLICE ON US if we didn't pay the price! Also he said "IF YOU ARE FROM EUROPE, YOU CAN JUST PAY THE PRICE, CAUSE FOR YOU IT'S NOTHING!" Wauw!! Really? We saved a long time to be able to travel .. Clientfriendly:0 Helpfull:0 Rudeness :10!

The location is nice, the access to the lagoon is great. the property needs maintenance, no A/C, the bathroom sometimes smell like sewer.

Great location! So nice staying right on the lagoon. The room was uncomfortable. It was super hot, no aircon. The sheets were dirty. The door was difficult to close. The shower was cold. I left my AirPods in the room, but stayed in Bacalar for 3 more days. The staff were contacted, but they never returned them. I understand it’s my fault for leaving them, but it’s disappointing that they are not trustworthy. They also owned me change for the room, but they never gave it back to me. Lazy and thoughtless staff!
