Merko Hotel

Super clean and modern room in the heart of Berat. We love the traditional accommodations of Albania’ but MERKO was a nice break! Comfortable beds and excellent breakfast and the reception was top notch!

Heating was not working

The location is very close to the old town and our room had full view. The is no parking even though the Booking listing states there are parking. Nearby public parking is about 10 euro. Our room toilet was half inside the shower.

The best thing about this property was Arlene. She was a lovely Filipino lady at the desk and she was so efficient at her job. She gave us so many great recommendations of things to do and where to eat etc. great person! Would come back just because of her. The views from the room were spectacular also The breakfast was not great

Excellent location, nice helpful staff, ok breakfast Rooms are not cleaned everyday, I was told they only change the towels, that wasn’t done in my room.

Great location, just outside walled city. We parked in the underground parking garage a few feet away for 1000 lek for overnight parking. Had a beautiful view of old town from our room.

Nice breakfast I stayed at the hotel with a friend we didn't plan to spend the whole day together so asked for two keys to the room but were refused. We also asked to split the payment so that each of us could pay separately, but were told it wasn’t possible ,these are basic and reasonable requests that I’ve never had a problem with at any other hotel in Albania or elsewhere and I travel a lot —The bathroom was very cramped, with no separation between the toilet and shower so the whole floor and toilet got wet every time we took shower

Location was good, staff very friendly, the view from the dining room was amazing and worth eating there!!! And the room was very clean, air condition was working properly and the bed was so comfortable! There was no parking space but we could find the slot near the street

It was modern and located very centrally, stylishly decorated, had wifi and an elevator. Also I was given free garage access for my car A man walked into my room unexpectedly. I had a single room accommodation booked alone although there were 3 beds available. I did not appreciate that this man came into my room. He must have thought it was vacant which means the room was double booked. I wad clothed luckily but it frightened me.

Location, breakfast on the 7th floor with amazing views (nice food also) and very helpful staff. Parking was a little hit or miss and breakfast was a little later than I would have liked - probably typical for Albania so all good.

This boutique hotel is an absolute gem, nestled in a fantastic location that’s hard to beat. I upgraded to a city view room, and the panorama was nothing short of breathtaking – truly a view to remember for a lifetime, all at a surprisingly reasonable price. The breakfast room, located on the top floor, offers equally stunning 360-degree views of the charming town, making every morning feel special. The breakfast itself was delicious, offering a wide range of options to suit all tastes. The hotel’s modern, chic design adds to its allure, and the staff were consistently welcoming and attentive, making the entire stay exceptional. Highly recommended for anyone seeking luxury with a personal touch. The wet room-style bathroom, while functional, is quite compact, so water tends to spread easily. It could benefit from a bit more thought in design, especially when it comes to lighting. The current room setup offers only bright lighting options, with no ambient or softer alternatives, which detracts from creating a more relaxing atmosphere.

The hotel is in a great location. Walkable to the Main Street where the restaurants are, and a short walk (uphill) to the castle, the gates of pasha, the mosques and cathedrals, and the famous bridge. Great views of the town from the rooftop where breakfast is served. The beds don’t come with a blanket or comforter but that’s easily fixed by changing the room temperature. Each room has an individual adjustable AC unit. (Also I didn’t ask for one)

Good location and helpful staff at reception. Nice modern rooms. To have parking in nearby garage was very good. Breakfast seemed like like everybody had eaten the table almost empty. Had to ask for coffee cup and glass too.

Bathroom design is bad. The toilet is by the shower, so every time you shower the toilet and all the floor gets wet. Breakfast has very limited options. Egg, sausage, and coffee were always cold.

the young lady at the reception was super friendly and helpful. A room was nice and big also we had a super comfy king size bed in our room ? I though there will be lots of choices at the breakfast also coffee from the coffee machine is not included in the price which was a big minus for me and my friends as w had to go to the city after for a proper nice espresso ..
