We booked this for the location which was great! We were told in advance there was paid parking available yet at check in, we were told the lot was full and had to find meter street parking which had time restrictions so had to keep moving the car. The rooms are nice but smaller than most traditional hotels and the sink is tiny (like a sink in an airplane size). Breakfast was good but extremely slow service but we had $25 to use so we waited. Staff was busy and understaffed and nobody acknowledged the growing line waiting for quite awhile - a few people left. We had tickets to the Greek which was walking distance so that was a plus otherwise would stay elsewhere.

The hotel is super cute, even has a restaurant I would recommend, but note this property is over 100 years old and has the look and feel.

The hotel was convenient to the venue, but with a few small details, this could be a wonderful hotel. The in room coffee was crap! The coasters in our room were used and not replaced. Henry’s the restaurant attached to the hotel for your breakfast lunch and dinner was very very disappointing. We paid $110 for three meals that were pretty much un edible. They said they were gonna remove it off of my bill. My husband tried to get a bloody Mary they had no Worcestershire or horseradish available. they use a bloody Mary mix. Asked for a cup of coffee with cream and sugar. They said they could not provide that but they could give me an Americano that had espresso with hot water? Where are they getting the coffee from the $37 fish and chips meal my husband ordered was a huge fillet that was battered heavily and burnt. For $37 they should’ve hand cut fries instead of using frozen waffle cut fries. My beat and goat cheese salad did not have any beets and very little goat cheese, and the lettuce was not even dressed with any kind of oil and vinegar. I ordered a chicken breast with it, which was the only thing that was edible on that plate and they just grilled it and threw it on the plate they didn’t even cut it up and make it presentable. The sandwich the other Member had she said was edible but not worth $30. So at this point I would not recommend this hotel. Very sad because it was very close to the venue we were going to, with upgrades, it would be exceptional

Absolute Nightmare – Dirty, Outdated, and OverpricedWe had an absolutely horrible experience at this hotel. For over $400 a night, you expect a 4-star experience, but this place is an absolute joke. They call themselves a "boutique" hotel, but it is just an old, dirty, and poorly maintained building. It felt like living in a horror movie. Here is everything that went wrong:Disgusting Room & Cleanliness: The old lamps were caked in thick dust, and the window was covered in spiderwebs. The carpet looked a century old, completely covered in stains to the point where you couldn't tell its original color. The bathtub and sink were dirty, and the doors and handles were so filthy I didn't even want to touch them.Terrible Maintenance: The walls and floors were incredibly rough—it looks like they didn't even sand the surfaces before slapping a cheap layer of paint over them. The elevator is ancient and dangerously slow.Uncomfortable Environment: The wall air conditioner was extremely noisy and blew freezing air directly onto the bed. To make matters worse, the shower water pressure was incredibly weak.Rude & Incompetent Staff: The front desk staff at check-in and the young male working the second-day afternoon shift were incredibly rude. We asked for bottled water twice and were told they were "out of water," or that the cleaning staff had it but they "didn't know where the cleaners were." Truly baffling service.Overpriced Food: The hotel bar/restur was another massive disappointment.

The location is what you pay for - it is perfect if you need to be close to UC Berkeley. It’s an classic old hotel which has it’s pros and cons Very small room and bathroom. The bathroom is dated and the water temperature in the shower fluctuates from scolding hot to freezing cold.

Very good

The bed sheets had someomes hair in it when we went to get into bed and the shower did as well. They obviously didn't clean the room before we got there. We also wiped the surfaces with a lysol pipe and they were very dirty. The TV didn't work. They wouldn't redund the money after yelling us They would because they said I booked through a third party.

Great location loved the ambiance
-
Great location, comfy cute rooms, good restaurant and friendly service.
-
The design, the atmosphere. The staff were good and the location is great. The bathroom was great but it would be nice if the showers were updated.
-
Rooms were small and a little cramped - we found it surprising that the sink was in the bedroom not bathroom with had shower/toilet only.
-
The rooms were clean and quiet. I loved the ceiling fan. However, the bathroom was very small. Hardly big enough for one traveler. I had a room with a king bed. There was no way two people could use the bathroom. The water fluctuated between hot and cold. Having said that. The bed was very comfortable and the hotel was in a great location.

Love the character of this hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food at the restaurant was delicous! The room size and decor was great. The bed was a little firm for me but I managed to sleep very well so it all worked out fine. I would stay here again.
