They upgraded me to a suite which had excellent views of the bay. It was a lil funky but very nice. The tub was excellent but the shower was leaky, like while filling the tub. Anyway, it was a splurge for a night out going to a show at the Greek theater. Lovely short walk through campus to get there. Spencer at the front desk was super friendly and kind! I wish I got to use the pool but, no time. Next time 😌 oh and the breakfast was decent! Overall this place draws an older crowd, as a 30’s queer nonbinary single person I wasn’t super excited to hang out with folks in the bar or restaurant but, I enjoyed my stay.

Beautiful, amazing stay. We will be back:)

Beautiful historic building, great architecture, handsome fixtures, beautiful public rooms, carpets, furniture, and well-maintained garden area with great plants, seating, and small koi pond. Very good food and service in the bar (Morgan's) as well as the gorgeous dining room (Julia's). Attentive, friendly staff at front desk. Great location near the university and Early Music concert venues, mostly churches. Left the car in the nextdoor lot (effective gates for entering and leaving) and walked to the concerts. The elevators worked well and provided reliable service between our 6th floor rooms and the lobbies, garden, restaurants on the lower floors. The shower/tub would be safer for an elderly person (or anyone) if there were grab bars. Access at the front door involves steps, a bit difficult for us with problematic hips/backs. The railings help. Could there possibly be a ramp? The pool wasn't available when I had time to swim due to a scheduled Zumba class, but it's another great asset.

This is a historic hotel and I relished being able to experience it. The restaurant was like being in a movie. The included buffet breakfast was amazing. The whole hotel made me feel like I was part of history.

It’s historic, so. But really an experience.

Berkeley City Club is an historic hotel and that means you have to be willing to accept some limitations of an older building, especially as compared to newer hotels. So - smaller rooms, smaller bathrooms, no in-room TV, no air conditioning. If you're ok with that, the Berkeley City Club is otherwise charming, with friendly staff, beautiful architecture and complimentary breakfast - a lot to like!

The guy at reception was amazingly helpful. The breakfast was really lovely with spinach and cheese soufflés - yummy. The room you have breakfast in was cold.
