American Inn Of Bethesda

Great hotel in the heart of Bethesda, MD. The rooms offer a refrigerator and small coffee maker. Approximately, 15 minute walk to Bethesda metro stop and right on Wisconsin Ave with buses traveling to Silver Spring, Md. The area has great restaurants with a variety of cuisines to choose, retail, and markets. The hotel has outstanding helpful and friendly staff and outstanding housekeeping staff who are attentive, diligent, and friendly ! I notice the entire staff smiling ! I strongly recommend!

Room in the annex building was nothing like the photos. 60yr old motel rm never updated. Terrible condition. Bathroom had old green 4” tile full of years of paint splatter thruout. Old ceramic tiled in roll holder had no holder so quarter roll of single ply left on counter. Tub drain painted over. Almost no hot water. Needed full hot and 1/8 cold to make shower possible. No sink stopper but paint in sink. Terrible caulk. Bath vent totally painted over so not exhaust. Moldy light outside bathroom didn’t work. Dirt on bath door and all around switch/outlet. Dirty stains on sheets. Dead misquote on shower wall when we arrived lasted 3 days. Ref was just in the room behind entrance door so door could not open more than halfway. Access to room was up an outdoor stair over restaurant kitchen leading to balcony full of roof vents and fans. Loud and creepy. Daylight coming in around door to outside. No outlets on nightstand so it was left pulled ft off wall to allow access to the outlet. Big rusty sprinkler line running thru. Water stains on ceiling. Felt more like a $10/hr motel than a $190/nt hotel. Parking for about 15 cars so we were told to “just park across the divided road in the bank parking lot for 3 days…you should be fine”. Never again, no way!!

It was cheap, but it also had bugs crawling on walls and furniture. NEVER again.

One problem with the room is there was only 1 light source and it was at the bed. So it was difficult to work at the desk. There are a group of rooms that are outside like motel, I guess it depends on the rate. There was no breakfast or market. There is a gas station at the corner. And a Hilton next door with a market.

We love the American Inn! There isn’t much that’s perfect about it but the staff couldn’t be nicer, it has everything. Everything is not always is shiny and perfect as one might hope. but you get everything that you need especially if you’re nice to the staff. And it is a great location and the price is very good. We have stayed here many times and always been treated very well.

But overall it met what I needed for fly in spend the night and fly out the next day, under last minute travel conditions.

Busted lock on room door, no cord on phone in the room so could not call the desk or make an emergency call. Bed sheets not clean, shower was dirty, fixtures were rusted. Parking is limited even if you pay $20 a night still may not have a place to park.

The Room was dirty, the carpet was stained and had a very bad odor . wall paper was torn, bed was broken

ps: The hotel advertises online that “available parking” but once you get to the front desk they have a signs says it’s $20 a day and parking first comes first served. so you pay $20 and you have a 50/50 chance to park??????!!!! asked them and they say yes $20 but parking space isn’t guaranteed….

My Ac wasn’t working but thankfully it wasn’t super warm.

The front desk clerk was wonderful . He has great customer service skills and is super professional at his job. We booked this hotel because I was getting a medical procedure and needed a hotel room to spend the night in case I had to return to the hospital. At arrival we noticed that the hotel was not what we were expecting it to be, but after all we checked in and it only got worse, the hallway to the room is connected to a restaurant. We didn’t feel comfortable or safe but we checked out the inside of the room and to our surprise it smelled like cats have been staying in this room. So we told the clerk that we could not stay due to the conditions of the hotel. He advised us to contact booking.com and notify them that he would agree to refund us for the hotel room.

I had great stay. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable. The location was perfect with many restaurants within walking distance. There was grocery store and CVS within walking distance. Metro was only 10 minute walk away. The price was about $80 cheaper than other hotels in the area.
