La Halte Montaigne

Franck and Brigitte are excellent hosts! They just took over the property in January. They allowed us to drop off our bags early, then sat down and showed us on a map everything we should do in Bordeaux. The room was huge, with a large bed, another small bed, and a sofa bed. There was a nice breakfast where all the guests sat together, so we met some interesting travelers. The location was perfect for us, just a few blocks from the train station. That made it easy to go to and from the train, and use the excellent tram system. We'll be back next time we are in Bordeaux!

Quiet and comfortable. Nothing.

Honestly, one of the best places I have ever stayed, and I say that as someone who has been traveling for more than 20 years. First and foremost, Brigitt and Franck were the most hospitable and patient hosts. In addition to assisting me with more things than I can count, they even took the patience to allow me to practice my terrible French with them. Brigitt is also a skilled confiteuse, and prepares the most delicious canelés. By the end of the day, which was sadly too short, I felt like I had two new friends. Then there is the property, which is stylish and cozy, and just a short walk from the train station. I actually preferred this location, compared to the city center, because I was mostly doing day trips from Bordeaux. Anyway, if you are lucky enough to find availability at this place, don’t hesitate to book it. Just a wonderful home in Bordeaux!

Personal care of the host

Situated at an excellent location, 3 minute walk from the main station. You can get the train from the Airport, travel without any transit changes straight to St Jean station and then walk to the location. Very convenient. There is also a taxi stand which we never used but it is available. Restaurants close by. There is a small grocery and a bakery 2-3 minute walk away. The breakfast was good and the coffee great. The croissant served at breakfast was to die for. There room was well air-conditioned, which was a great comfort during the heat-wave. We stayed during the heat wave. Bordeaux would be much nicer in the Spring and Autumn. The town is cold weather focused rather than heat-waves. But this is true in much of Europe.

The accommodation was spotlessly clean, a very comfortable bed and a great shower. It was great fun meeting and talking to other guests from around the world over breakfast each day around the communal table. Breakfast was also fresh and delicious. Great location - easy walk from Gare St Jean, many walkable restaurants, sights, and neighborhoods nearby. Enjoyed meeting the lovely and welcoming hosts. No dislikes.

Brigitte and Franck were excellent hosts, very accommodating and provided helpful tips about sites to visit in the city. The location was very convenient to the train station and while about two km from the central city, it was a pleasant walk and the excellent tram is at the train station just three blocks away. Our room was spacious and well appointed and the shared areas, including a lovely courtyard, were all excellent. There are not a lot of restaurants in the immediate area, but there all the basic amenities like supermarkets and self-service laundromats. Walking or taking the tram to the central areas are easy.

La Halte Montaigne is a very convenient B&B located within walking distance from Gare Saint-Jean. It is very clean and well kept with an artistic touch. The hosts, Brigitte and Franck, are great hosts. They served us delicious breakfast daily and provided helpful information about many well known sight seeing places to visit and explore. There was nothing that we didn’t like about the property.

La Halte Montaigne is a lovely B & B easy walking distance from the train station, but also so well situated you can walk to almost anything you might want to see. Brigitte and Franck are lovely people, warm, welcoming, interesting and interested, and very gracious. The rooms are comfortable and extremely clean, and the breakfast is nice and has a bit of everything. What more can you ask? There should be some explanation as to how the shower works. The water in the rooms takes quite a while to get hot.

Everything! Beautiful and tastefully decorated. The location was perfect, just a few blocks from the train and tram stations. Best of all was the gracious and friendly greeting each morning from the owners over breakfast.

Frank and Brigette were absolutely wonderful host! I will be telling my Camino friends about this wonderful place! The location is 5min from train station. The train to St Jean Pied Deport less than a 2 hour train ride. I loved exploring Bordeaux and St Emilion before my Camino on the French Way? Absolutely NOTHING!
