We weren't bothered at all but the only thing is that we were missing 1 pair of slippers, very very minor.

The staff were friendly and helpful and we were even offered a refreshing drink as we arrived on a hot day. The location is excellent for the centre of Bristol as we were going to a concert at The Beacon. The restaurant was not available but they communicated this to us beforehand and was not a problem as the hotel is near a lot of excellent restaurants. I enjoyed using the spa facilities but they are very small which is why you have to book. Unfortunately our room was in a corner on the 3rd floor next to the lift which was noisy at times and did affect our sleep. The walls had some peeling paint in the corners and there was a slight smell of damp, so a refresh would be suggested.

Pretty much all Location was brilliant Reception staff was amazing It’s an old building so it’s a bit rundown. Slightly annoying that there is a charge for the spa when it’s advertised as a spa hotel

Could have been cleaner. The shower curtain should be replaced or cleaned. Same with the soap/shampoo dispenser in the shower was not clean nor the hand held shower head (did not use it).

It could have been included in the price.

I had a lovely room with a large bath and walk-in shower. The bed was really comfortable.

Nice location Have to pay extra for the spa

Location was 10/10. Cute little boutique feel with some modern touches. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful 10 quid for an hour at the spa was incredible Maintenance was lacking. And there were a few small touches that showed a lack of attention to detail.

Easy to find, nice room The rooms were very hot and you couldn't open the windows

Fantastic location right opposite St Nick's Markets and walkable to everything in the centre. Was lovely to have air conditioning in the room in a heat wave! Beds super comfortable. Nice bottled water and carafe of gin! Breakfast was decent quality but for a continental breakfast a bit lean on offerings. The pool/spa was a a little disappointing. Dark and claustrophobic and the pool small. The sauna and steam room were very nice but the shower to cool off from them was broken so that spoiled the experience. There is a lack of common rooms in the hotel where you can meet and relax.

I like the aesthetic, and the rooms were a lovely size. The room did have a light musty smell, but this may have been as a result of the air con, though the room showed no other signs of being unclean to my eye.

Modest but decent spa. Great comfy bed. General decor and comfort. Being woken up multiple times at 3-6am on a bank holiday Monday morning hearing VERY loud thuds of beer kegs and laundry (?) being dropped into a chute from a van? Meant we slept about 3 hours and felt exhausted to drive back to Manchester. Guided to walk through the restaurant in my spa dressing gown to access my room due to where it was located; when I suggested this was inappropriate, I was advised that “loads of people do it”. When I suggested I was not one of those people, I was told “each to their own” and felt like I was being ‘extra’ in asking for a small amount of privacy. Staff were helpful in agreeing to a £6 add on for a bit breakfast (my request, not offered by the hotel), which felt like a very poor attempt to resolve my customer service issues.

The spa and room service was amazing. And the free upgrade made our stay with a little gift of strawberries If the bath had a bath mat - the bath was lovely just because of the sheer size of it, it meant it was very slidey

Gorgeous room although would have like a little more lighting. Beautiful hotel and friendly staff. Great location too. I think the breakfast could be better i.e. not have to pay extra for hot items, it should be included as standard.

The city of Bristol is an excellent place to go, just don’t go to this hotel. The staff in the hotel are very nice and helpful, but……. 1. SAT NAV DOES NOT GET YOU TO THIS HOTEL 2. THERE IS NO PARKING - EVEN TO DROP OFF BAGS. 3. THE NEAREST NCP CARPARK IS A 10 MIN WALK AWAY AND YOU WILL NEED TO DRAG YOUR BAGS UP A HILL AND ALONG THE STREET. 4. THE PARKING DISCOUNT CARD THE HOTEL GIVES DOES NOT WORK IN THE MACHINE SO YOU WILL HAVE TO SPEND 20 MINS GETTING THROUGH TO THE CARPARK ATTENDANT EVERY TIME YOU WANT TO LEAVE THE CARPARK. 5. On getting to the hotel you are told that the advertised “breakfast included” on Booking is only a continental breakfast and if you want a full breakfast it is an extra £6 PER PERSON PER DAY ! (It is in the small print). 6. The Spa is charged at £10 PER PERSON PER DAY PER HOUR!!! (It’s not worth it so don’t bother - the spa is in the old bank vaults below cramped, dark, and the pool is freezing cold) The gym is free but tiny and some of the equipment does not work. 7. The hotel is tired, the carpets are stained, woodwork is dirty and marked, some of the furniture is badly worn, crockery in the restaurant was dirty. 8. The corridor outside our room smelled of cannabis!!! (There was a music festival this weekend in the local park so I assume this was related). 9. The room inside looked ok. The water in the sink never gets above tepid. The duvet on the bed was only 2/3rds the size of the bed (although in a full size duvet cover) so one of us had no duvet all night). We were on the top floor so from around 5am on the first night the pigeons on the roof woke us up and did not stop “cooing” - we complained and the moved us). There were long dark hairs in the bathroom (neither of us have long hair). Conclusion: We should have read the hundreds of negative reviews and believed them!
