Breakfast was outstanding, with an excellent variety of options to suit every taste. I especially enjoyed the omelet station, the fresh fruits and yogurts, and the freshly baked croissants—it was truly a fabulous spread. As a coffee enthusiast, I was particularly impressed by the latte; the barista crafted an absolutely divine cup that was the perfect start to the day. This was my second stay at the hotel, and unfortunately I experienced the same issue on both visits. On checkout day, the housekeeping staff knocked on our door very early in the morning. During this stay, we had arranged a late checkout, yet housekeeping still knocked at 8:30 a.m. and again at 10:00 a.m. This was quite disappointing and disruptive. The hotel should have a system in place to communicate guest checkout times, particularly when a late checkout has been approved. Standard checkout time is 11:00 a.m., so being disturbed as early as 8:30 a.m. felt unnecessary and detracted from an otherwise enjoyable stay. I hope this can be addressed to ensure future guests are able to enjoy their room and privacy until their scheduled departure time.

I was unfortunately disappointed with my stay at SunSquare City Bowl. First impressions are important, and the welcome experience fell short. The staff were not particularly welcoming, and during check-in we were asked to wait until 14:00. However, upon returning at the allocated time, we noticed that other guests were being assisted ahead of us by Wendy, which felt inconsistent and unprofessional, especially as we had been clearly advised of the check-in time. There was also a lack of personalisation—no welcome cards, drinks, or small touches that typically enhance the guest experience. In terms of amenities, the absence of room service was inconvenient, and basic items such as slippers were only available for purchase, which is unexpected even for a standard room. Additionally, service responsiveness was lacking. At one point, front-of-house staff members Sibusiso and Sasha were occupied with other matters while we were waiting for assistance with a simple printing request. During breakfast, there were also managers standing in the hallway who did not step in to assist while service appeared busy. This gave the impression of a lack of leadership presence and support, as guests were left waiting while managers observed rather than ensuring that service flowed smoothly. Overall, the experience did not meet expectations and could benefit from improved customer service, consistency in processes, stronger staff engagement, and greater attention to detail.

The location is great, hotel is overall in good shape, has secure parking and includes breakfast. Bathroom shower had a very long hair in it on checkin. Housekeeping arrived very early on the checkout date, and by the time we got up, they already had the door open. Several tables at breakfast didnt have cutlery.

Location. Hotel is very clean . Bed was comfortable.

Rooms are a little small (like most modern hotels) and there can be noise from surrounding clubs/bars that disturb at night, depending on the room / time of year. Gym is okay for basics, but not amazing.
