Mövenpick Suriwongse Hotel Chiang Mai

The room was very comfortable and clean. The bathroom was excellent with a great shower. Careful with the hot water!! The breakfast selection was immense and covered all tastes. The location was superb, right next to the bustling night market and many options to eat and drink. The taxi and events booking office was very helpful. I particularly liked the chocolate fountain at 4pm every day! Nothing I can think of.

The hotel has an excellent central location and very friendly, welcoming staff. I was kindly upgraded upon arrival, which was much appreciated after a long day on my motorcycle. During the second part of my stay, things noticeably improved: there were now five beach chairs by the pool, pool service became much faster and more attentive, and the check-in counter staff were especially friendly. The breakfast offered a good selection and was enjoyable. A unique and very nice touch is that the staff hold the door for you in the lobby every day—small detail, but it makes a difference. The room cleaning team also deserves a mention for being consistently friendly and pleasant. The hotel is still somewhat dated in certain areas, particularly in the bathrooms where some maintenance, such as silicone sealings, could be improved. However, it is worth noting that renovation work has already started during my stay, which is a very positive sign. Cleanliness in smaller details could be more consistent. The dinner buffet and breakfast both offer everything essential, even if they are not overly extensive. Overall, the hotel is clearly moving in the right direction with ongoing improvements.

The overall ambience is pleasant, and the price of around $59 per night offers good value. The hotel is quite outdated and in need of renovation, especially in the bathrooms where silicone sealings are worn and poorly maintained. Cleanliness in detailed areas could be improved, as this is a key standard for any hotel. The dinner buffet was average, and the live music was somewhat squeaky. Pool service was slow, even for simple orders, and the pool area is under-equipped, with too few lounge chairs. Overall, the property would benefit from a proper retrofit and modernization.

Large rooms, great location. The internet was unstable

The location was great. The rooms weee clean and it smelled fresh. The rooms are very dated. Peeling paint, old grout and the shower went from hot to cold every minute. The pool was ok but seating was extremely limited. There were only two lounge chairs. One was ripped and the other was so warped you can’t sit in it properly.

The beds were not comfortable even though I changed two rooms. It was really bad!!!

Would have liked a little more light above sink in the bathroom. When shaving it is helpful to have good light.

Very close to night market We booked the double room with more space and they gave us smaller room and very old, outdated when we confront them then they gave us a bigger room but they didn’t reimburse our first night in the wrong room.

Nice entry area They use a lot of toxic fragrances so the entry, outside the hotel in the immediate area, the bathrooms, the hallways, and parts of the room have a terrible stink from synthetic chemical fragrances. These cause illness.

Very friendly staff, location perfect just next to night market. Choice of food could be richer

The location and the lobby are fine. It was very dated. The pool and gym were small and unpleasant. The breakfast was poor. The housekeeping was inconsistent- one day i didn't get hand towels, the next day they took my hand soap and didn't replace it. I think it's ridiculous you have to become a member to access wifi when you pay for it through the room cost. The layout of the bathroom was odd and the hot water ran out. This definitely is not consistent with other Mövenpicks I've stayed it so suggest not choosing it if you expect a similar experience.

Very old Reception not good

The location is great- close to CNX airport and in the city center so was very convenient. The rooms are quite spacious. The breakfast was pretty good with variety of options. The staff was lovely overall. The room was not 100% clean so in the same amount of money you could go to a different and fancier hotel which I did and did not regret to move from Movenpick.

I love that the hotel was in the middle of a market that can be easily access. I also admire that the staff were quick on their feet and very accommodating. The room we were first offered was on the first floor and faced towards a ally way that people can easily access. Bathroom door swings towards the sink, it was hard to move around the restroom or utilize the sink if anyone else was also in there and the accessories were dirty.
