There is a sort of timeless quality to the Bharat Hotel (formerly the Bharat Tourist Home). I've been here several times over the last 50+ years, and even though the hotel has modernized, the spirit of the place has been very much the same - a quiet oasis of comfort in a central location in a bustling city. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Also, the classic Kerala food at the restaurant is exceptional, and is one of the main reasons to visit it. The beds were somewhat over-firm - also a timeless quality of the place, I guess.

Restaurant is total chaos. Many staff were simply loitering and they were not at all bothered about the customers. It took ,45 minutes for getting the breakfast

Stay was good. Breakfast limited items, staff not serving even if asked in buffet( toasted bread etc.) Even though extra bed was not used, they charged for 2 nights extra bed.
