Chief Motel

We were hauling a trailer with motorcycles and they were very accomodating. They had room for us to park close to our room.

Carpet old and torn.

Amazing place to stay. Easy access to all the treasures of the Black Hills. My family has stay here several times and the pool house is amazing. Large clean pool, hot tub and sauna.

Need to clean carpet or replace! Smells like wet diapers!

The location is perfect to enjoy downtown and all that it has to offer

Older accommodations. But, great location, great staff...especially housekeeping. Quiet, safe and clean.

The only negative comment I have is that outside the building was a large collection of mops, buckets, etc that detracted from the overall appearance of the property.

Room was clean; housekeeping changed sheets and towels every day which was a surprise. Air conditioner worked well. Bathroom was large and shower was tall and hot.

We rented a triple room and while thankful for all the beds, the space in the room did not equal the amount of people we had and so it was very cramped. Our boys did love the enormous pool and hot tub though! The main disappointment was their lack of customer service etiquette on the phone. A few days prior to our arrival we tried to ADD a night to our stay via the website we made our original reservation through. While I was in the middle of finalizing the addition we hit time limit for editing our reservation (which I admit was my fault for not paying attention to the time, however I was literally on the payment section when I hit the time limit and was unable to complete adding a night). In adding a night (due to some last minute changes in our traveling schedule) it gave me a discount online. I called the hotel right away to see if they could help me finish the transaction with the discount. After explaining to them the situation, the worker responded “so are you just calling to express a grievance?” I responded by saying , “no, I’m simply trying to explain what happened and ask if you can help us.” Matter of factly he responded “no. I can’t do that.” (We had a similar situation happen on our way to the area with one other motel and they were very accommodating and understanding) I simply felt the way he responded did not exemplify good customer service. Even if he couldn’t honor my request there was a much more tactful and kind way to respond.

Air conditioning did not meet the needs - the room was very hot. No breakfast and very gimmhugh cost.

I liked the room set up. We were traveling with my daughter and we got a suete. It gave us all a little more privacy than the standard hotel room. I can't think of anything that I didn't like about the motel

Nice clean and quiet room. Convenient location for walking and driving in Custer. Nice pool too! No ice in ice machine

The man up front was very helpful and had a good conversation about all the surrounding things to do. Older furnishings, but a nice place to stop.

The shower got cold quickly in the am.

The location is close to the eating places in downtown Custer. The room may be old, however, it is clearly well looked after and cared for. Best motel I have ever stayed in and 100% would stay there again for a great price.

The room was nice and clean. It had everything we needed. The owner was very nice. It did not have breakfast. We would definitely stay there again.
