Mallqui Hostal

The hot water was a big issue. It was not enough water for 2 people to wash one after another. There was mould and the bathroom is old, pieces of window missing. The heat is only available from 6pm and it will shut down at 3 am. We went in june and the temperature at night is around 0 degrees celsius.

Location and breakfast were great!!! Hot water was not consistent. We had to wait in between showers for the boiler to heat the water.

I spent one week at this place and it’s more like a hotel than a hostel. The room was decent with heating in the chilly evenings and the breakfast was very good. The staff are also bilingual and very helpful and friendly. The location is also 5-10 mins walk to everything in Cusco. TV didn’t work in my room but I’m not complaining for the price I paid. Shower curtain was slightly too short so water was leaking on the floor at every shower but it wasn’t a huge deal. I’d still recommend this place.

The hostal is an excellent location. It is near the Cusco arms plaza, however, it is quiet for a good sleep and rest. Most of the attractions are in walking distance. Some attractions are a little more walking, however, it is easy to get a Uber ride. The hotel manager was very nice and arranged us a nice room away from street such that we could have good sleep and rest. The breakfast is good with eggs, yougher, bread, etc. The bath room is relatively small. However, we can handle it. It is in Cusco city center, understandable.

The staff were amazing so grateful for all their care & support. How cold it gets at night.

Great location with super friendly staff. You can't go wrong if you are looking for a budget option. The wifi wasn't great particularly in the second room we stayed in it was not really functioning. We only stayed in that room for one night so for us it was not a big deal.

Our shower was very old and we didn't had any shelfs there. I didn't know wgere to put my towel.

Clean and walking distance from the city center. The bathroom was very small and the shower risked flooding the entire bathroom if you weren’t careful.

A strong sewage smell from the bathroom which made it hard to sleep. Extrem squeaky doors to my room; I probably woke up the whole house going out for an early morning tour. No soundproofing: you can hear sounds and conversations from the patio, from above, from everywhere. Very squeaky floors. No sockets in the bathroom. I found the breakfast way too basic.

The toilet was a little smelly and towel rails in the bathroom would have been helpful. However the beds were comfortable and the room was serviced every day. The staff were excellent. Cannot fault them. Breakfast was good but the same choices every day.
