***ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE STAY!*** Had to ask for promised amenities, even soap and TP 3X!!! Something is seriously wrong with that when you have to repeatedly ask for bathroom items. Microwave was hidden, which was very odd; had to ask for sodas that are promised amenities, NOT GUEST-ORIENTED! They report general housekeeping as "room damage". What B&B has no breakfast? Why was there no housekeeping between days when you are there multiple days? Owner, Simon, was extremely rude, clearly doesn't want to work or serve the guests, talks over you, and has poor listening skills. He needs another job because he fails miserably as an innkeeper. And he talks more than he listens! Thankfully Expedia offered partial refund.

After staying in rather sterile hotels before arriving in Dubuque, the Hancock House felt more like home. I will keep it on my list of places to stay when in Dubuque.

A beautiful old Victorian home high on a hill.

Quaint property setting on a bluff overlooking the town and river Needs some maintenance on spa tub, damaged ceilings, but overall great value. Gets really hot during day and takes awhile to cool down

This is a gorgeous and unique place, in a historic neighborhood whose charm is second to none. Very glad we stayed there! The only drawback was the lack of breakfast which is apparently only on weekends. There should have been a first-rate coffee setup to make up for this, but supplies were short and there was no silverware. Also, no live television in the room, only youtube TV.

We stayed in the Mrs. Hancock room. It was a large, sunny, spacious room. The bed was very comfortable, and the temp was perfect. The house is so close to everything, we could easily get to anything we wanted to see in Dubuque. Simon was a gracious host and the breakfasts were well portioned and delicious.

Location, front porch and view, spacious room and bathroom, Roku tv, historical aspects, use of kitchen fridge and freezer Worn furniture on porch and living/sitting areas made it less comfortable. I’m sure replacing these historically accurate pieces are pricey, but I’d stay more than a night with these improvements as I’d feel more comfortable lounging around. The bed in the Train room needs a new mattress as it was very concave in the middle and very soft. New pillows would be nice too. I understand breakfast only being served on the weekends, but prepared coffee in the morning would have been nice-or at least instructions on how to use the restaurant grade machine-maybe I missed those

The house is beautiful. Simon was extremely communicative and we were able to check in and out without incident. We were unable to stay for breakfast but it smelled wonderful. The views were beautiful and it felt very comfortable and safe. Everyone should experience this beautiful bed and breakfast

The house was amazing as well as the location. Simon The host was awsome. Furniture was a little uncomfortable and it would have been nice to have a mini fridge and a coffee pot. My wife and I spent a lot of time in the room and that would have been nice to have.

Fabulous historic property with views over Dubuque. Excellent communication from hosts. The breakfast was huge and very tasty.

Beautiful house filled with antiques yet despite its age it has a/c Horrible communication. We received no code to access the house and room despite arriving after check-in time. Host did not answer doorbell, phone calls or messages via booking.com when we attempted to reach him to gain entrance. Eventually rang doorbell again and housekeeper answered and put us in touch with Simon, the host. Host answered her calls. Ours went straight to voicemail. This might have been some technical problem with the host’s phone system but it certainly got our stay off to a bad start.
