We are a couple and haven't stayed in a back packers for a long time but were looking for an alternative to the expensive hotels on Fairbanks. Billie's was a great find, she was so welcoming and generous. Quiet, clean, comfortable beds and everything you need. Definitely a fascinating place and met such interesting people. Also close to Creamers Field for wildlife viewing. Absolutely recommend as a place to stay.

Billie was super nice and willing to share places to visit in the area. She was also willing to pay for bus rides Nothing everything was awesome. Will definitely be coming back.

Billie was super friendly, the place is really neat and clean, it feels like you’re at home and not at a hostel! There’s a nice cafe nearby and the bus stop, for those without a car, is also really close. I stayed here for a week and felt really welcomed. One of the nights, we could even see the aurora right outside the house.

Everything was fine for budget accommodation

Billie makes a pot of coffee every morning for guests. Little Owl Café, a very short walk away, offers breakfast and lunch options. The common area is very cute and cozy. I stayed in the private twin room, which has its own lock.

Coffee is in the frozen room, consistently smelled burnt so I did not partake. When staff did come to "clean", she did it in her pajamas and just changed out trash, nothing else. She also did it early in the morning when everyone in the room was trying to sleep. Downstairs has a much larger bathroom. Kitchen and dining area are sufficient. Chairs in "living room" were very sunken in and uncomfortable. There is a tv, but one guest kept it on conservative news shows me entire stay and hid and slept with the remote. Lastly, I had some canned drinks by my bed and one or two of them were stolen. Another guest had some of her food stolen out of the shared fridge. Not sure if all this is par for the course for American hostels, but I was not impressed. Would definitely not stay here again.

Billie’s lived up to our expectations and more! My teenage daughter and I spent one night and loved it. Billie is kind and inviting. The hostel/house feels cozy and filled with history and memories. I was hoping to see the Aurora and managed to see a ribbon of dancing green lights right outside the hostel. There’s a wonderful cafe less than five minutes away. :)

This was the best hostel that I have ever stayed at. The inside is comfortable and homey and there's running water and hot showers indoors. Indoor plumbing the vibe there was really laid back and nice and the people who were visiting were great people. The staff were awesome. Billy is just a wonderful person. All in all. You can stay at a hostel and sit outside all day before you go back inside your tent or little cabin that has no running water to it. Or you can go to Billy's and have all the amenities of home
