Wingate by Wyndham Dayton - Fairborn

I was looking forward to a dip in the pool, but it was closed for renovation. It would not have made a difference for me to stay there, but it was something that I wish had been noticed on the website.

We had issues when we arrived in that our reservation was given to someone else. The problem was resolved, but it was not a simple process. Then we had a problem with a cricket in the room, probably in the HVAC unit. Got moved to another room the next day, but then the motor for the a/c compressor started making noise during start up part way through the night. I have stayed here twice before with no real problems either time. Obviously I was satisfied the other times or I would not have come back.

Pool was closed for maintenance !

Our stay was okay. It wasn't horrible, but it lacked in a few areas.

Filthy, smelly, felt unsafe

On the last night of our stay, however, overnight staff was unkind/unhelpful. When I turned on the heater in our room, the room filled with a terrible burning hair/urine smell. The overnight desk clerk (Tanya) first told me that my senses were incorrect, and that "it just smells musty." (Tanya at no point came to our room.) She then told me that every room was filled, there was no overnight maintenance staff, and that there was no manager on duty. She offered zero solutions/alternatives/sympathy. My partner was finally able to obtain a fan from Tanya, and I was able to sleep for a few hours (my partner was not). It was an upsetting end to an otherwise great stay. (At no point during our stay was the pool operational, but parking was accessible and breakfast was available.)

Room was clean. Bed was comfortable.

Our third stop on our road trip from Rhode Island to Texas was at this location. Similar to other hotels we have encountered, this property looks great from the outside but feels old and outdated once you walk through the doors. They were doing construction on the pool area during our stay. While our room was clean, it definitely had an old, musty smell to it. The hotel simply needs some work and modernizing. The complimentary breakfast was just okay. I know it is included in the price, but it should still be appetizing. The bacon was all stuck together in clumps, and the eggs tasted old, like they had been sitting out under heat lamps for hours. On the positive side, the hotel is in a fantastic area. The Mexican restaurant right on the side of the property has great food, and there are plenty of other excellent dining options nearby. It is a convenient place to stay, but the hotel itself needs updates.

The room was very nice and comfortable. Breakfast good ,hot and fresh. Lady working the breakfast are was very nice and friendly, as was the rest of the staff. Nothing was wrong. Everything was fine. would stay here again.

The only sink was in the bathroom (we prefer it outside), but there were 2 additional mirrors in the room itself plus the one in the bathroom, helping 3 girls to get ready in the morning. Mini fridge worked great, but no tiny freezer for ice packs. The ice machine down the hall worked great. Safe area, well-lit, with free parking. Run down but being renovated. Pool was closed for reno. Son said the workout machine only went to 100 lb and should be two to three times that for an effective workout. There was a treadmill and a bike and a stair master in⁹ addition. Would stay again at this price point.

The housekeeping staff was great. The front desk people were excellent. The Hotel Manager was excellent. They are in the midst of renovations. Dust was kept to a minimum. If I attend this conference again next year, I will be back.

Good value for the money. Decent breakfast for the price. The room smelled a little musty, probably because the bathroom was not well ventilated. Also, there weren’t any towel racks in the bathroom.

The staff from the cleaning ladies to the desk clerks were wonderfully polite and helpful. The property itself was clean and generally well maintained (except some water leak spots in a few ceiling tiles in the lobby). The breakfast buffet had variety and the food was good.

The room was very nice and comfortable, including the bed. Very convenient to local amenities.

Clean room, comfortable bed. An older property that's fine for the price.

Furniture in room was dated and stained. The sofa looked like it should be pushed down driveway to the street with a FREE sign on it. Two light fixtures did not work. Based on my experience, it’s hard to believe it had a score of 8.2.
