I really liked the ole school and modern art they implemented in the property. Very elegant and from the valet to the staff very accommodating and professional.

Everything was done well. Rooms were clean, staff was helpful and the valet parking was efficient. Pool was beautiful, and drinks (even ice water) were delivered to us in the pool.

We really enjoyed the location, the "look" of the hotel, and the staff. We were only in town for one night, so we didn't get a chance to use the full amenities they had available. The pool itself was wonderful, and the people were great as well. I especially enjoyed the music the hotel was playing, which really added to the atmosphere. Unfortunately, there was a small group of guests who brought their own waterproof speaker and played their music so loudly that it completely drowned out the hotel’s music. Situations like this can be frustrating, especially when guests are trying to enjoy the atmosphere the hotel has intentionally created. It also felt somewhat out of place for the overall quality and atmosphere of the hotel. Perhaps the hotel could consider having a policy regarding personal speakers in the pool area to help maintain the relaxing environment for everyone.

Vintage and fun!

If you are staying at this hotel over a weekend period, when weddings often take place here, you need to know that the wedding party activities take precedence over any services that may or may not be provided to a regular guest. Also, if you don’t have a high status in Marriott’s member club know that your service requests may be ignored entirely. All that said the hotel is beautiful and has a great location. I think the front desk staff see’s the hotel as having somewhat of a monopoly, so just regular guest without high status and those not throwing a big wedding need to know where they stand.

The Grand Galvez is one of my favorite places ever and I go several times a year. Jan, is the absolute best and always goes above and beyond for the guests. I had such a wonderful time and she made my birthday so special. It’s such a great location and such a beautiful and historical hotel. I would recommend to everyone to visit. Thanks again Galvez, Mrs. Jan, and staff!

I've been going to the Galvez since the early 70's. I always thought it was such a grand hotel. It is still my choice in Galveston, but it really needs some changes like being able to open a window.

My sisters and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Grand Galvez Resort. The property was beautiful, the pool area was relaxing and well maintained, and the staff provided excellent service throughout our visit. The only negative was the cost of drinks at the bar, which seemed a bit overpriced. Other than that, it was a fantastic getaway. Beautiful Bedroom small and no comfortable chair

The beach access and pool were wonderful. The room was not prepared for the two of us (only 1 robe) and hardware and towel rod were loose or fell off. Also house cleaning only came if we requested it but we were not told that. All in all, at almost $350/night the room service was terrible although the facilities were great!

Great hotel with lots of character! Hotel staff were extremely friendly and the beach access with chairs is a great added bonus!

Great view of the beach, rooms was very clean and enjoyed time at the pool the beds were comfortable Leaving I requested Bell to come get our bags they never showed up so I went down and got a cart and loaded my own and it took a while to get them to bring my car around.

The pillows were great. I didn’t like that the bathroom had poor products in it. The hand soap left a film on your hands rather than clean them. The soaps in the tube with refillable, which is nasty tbh. There’s no telling how the pumps are cleaned after each guest. The hotel is also very overpriced in all the ways: $40 a night to park your car somewhere that’s not a mile away, no outside food or drinks at the pool, $7 for a coffee, $15 for a cocktail. Could’ve easily spent half the amount we did at a condo, which would have less traffic in it and on the beach.

Excellent property. Good comfort and amenities. Restaurant inside is very expensive. Better options available outside.
