Hostal Encounter Guanajuato

This is the kind of hostel which isn't for everyone. I ended up staying there for 4 nights!! Location couldn't be better and staff (Pablo) was kind and helpful. Free laundry! Free coffee & tea and drinking water. Outlet to each bed. Terrace. Big lockers (you get lock&key). As a backpacker, I must be fair and if a hostel isn't perfect, but give you unbeatable price in a oerfect location and all with kindness.. To me it was GREAT VALUE and I felt comfortable So yes.. it's noisy day & night.. it's above a Japanese restaurant and even though they open 12:00-19:30.. staff are there 10:00 to late night cleaning with their loud music and also the bars around contribute. As long as you know what you're getting into.. Bathroom (only one to share by the two dormes) needs to be cleaned more frequently during the day. No curtains in beds.

Good for a solo traveler. The bed was clean and comfortable. The location is great for walking around the city. There is no kitchen or living room for sharing. The reception hours are from 12pm(afternoon). Restroom can be crowded since one restroom with shower is in one floor for sharing.

The location is unbeatable. The cleanliness is top notch. The restaurant serves good Japanese food. There are lots of restaurants nearby. Pleasant amenities. Due to the prime location there will be noises all night round. If you are light sleeper, bring your ear plugs. There are no place to hang clothes. This could be improved.

The location and the food from the Japanese restaurant below is amazing. You get a food discount when you stay at the hostel. Free use of washing machine - great! A small kitchen facility might be nice. Charging outlets near all beds would be helpful

I had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful place on Christmas Day, and it exceeded all my expectations. Despite arriving two hours before the official check-in time, Pablo warmly welcomed me with genuine kindness. The highlight of my stay was the heartwarming gesture from Pablo’s mother, who brought us the most delicious pork soup. It was not only a thoughtful act but also the best Mexican food I’ve ever tasted—rich, flavorful, and cooked with love. The accommodation itself was spotless, comfortable, and well-equipped, making it a perfect home away from home. The level of care and hospitality provided by Pablo and his family truly set this place apart. I highly recommend staying here. This will remain one of my favorite travel memories!
