I booked a standard room for a one-night transit stay and paid around $600. I wasn’t expecting anything extraordinary, but I was genuinely shocked by what I got. The room had virtually no design or character whatsoever — to the point that, after looking at the photos and reviews online, I honestly wondered whether I had somehow been given a converted storage room. Unfortunately, that was the least of the problems. Every pillow had a strong smell of feet. The bed actually moved when I lay on it, and the mattress was so soft and collapsed that it felt completely worn out. The kettle looked as though it had not been properly cleaned in a very long time, and the Wi-Fi barely worked throughout my stay. I’m genuinely confused by the overwhelmingly positive reviews, because my experience bore almost no resemblance to what I had read before booking. My room was 350. Please tell me I didn’t accidentally check into a different hotel. At this price point, even for a standard room, basic cleanliness, a functional bed and reliable Wi-Fi should not be optional.
