It had potential for a good view - the lounge was amazing Damp - air con wouldn’t get room below 21 degrees

5 star hotel and service, with everything you'd expect, in a good way. Professional and firendly staff, and everything goes very smoothly. We liked being away from the (wonderful) chaos of central Hanoi and having a calm oasis to return to, just a 10-15 minute Grab ride away. The Vietnamese breakfast is absolutely wonderful, with some of the best Pho we had anywhere. Must have! My only minor gripe is that the blinds in the room, while very pretty, do not darken it completely. Light sleepers may find it difficult to sleep after around 7am without eye-shades.

It’s too old and the price is high and does not reflect the quality of the room or the overall standard of the hotel as expected. Also the room service wasn’t great, whatever we use to ask we have to call again and follow up so it use to take 30 minutes to get anything!!

It was a resort within the city that you can relax without going out. The staff was very friendly and helpful as well. The property is a little dated in terms of design and functionality but they have managed to maintain well the hotel.

The staff are exceptional, rooms very comfortable and facilities a pleasant escape from the bustle of Hanoi. We booked this hotel at the end of our trip for some relaxing before going home and it was the perfect stay. Buffet breakfast was large either options for cultural and dietary needs . We thank the staff for their care and attention. A few minor things needed attention such as the fish button on the toilet wasn’t properly attached and would come off at time. The wifi set up was a bit cumbersome but staff were excellent at assisting.

Nice and unique property on West Lake Needs a little TLC. The rooms are a bit tired.

Beautiful setting on the lake. My room had a view of the lake. Spacious room and very good amenities. Comfortable bed and bedding. I was joining tour group the day after my arrival and the staff ensured I had a continuous stay in my room. Also excellent breakfast with many different cuisines! I booked a food tour through the hotel with friends and it was very good! We visited several spots the our subsequent tour group did not visit,such as Train Street for an egg coffee and train sighting, a place the served rice pancake, and the restaurant where Anthony Bourdain and Barack Obama ate lunch! If staying in one of the outer buildings and it was raining, which it was all mornings, there was no covered walkway to get to the lobby. Not walkable to the main areas of Hanoi, but after I joined my group it was not a problem

The staff were tremendous and professional! Friendliness, proactiveness and quick to help is something always appreciated! The reception allowed us to check in early and check out late. We truly appreciate this! The bed in our room was very comfortable too! The breakfast spread was one of the best we have experienced in a long time. My wife is vegetarian so the fact she had so many options to choose from is greatly appreciated. The staff also went out of their way to make sure her dietary restrictions were met. I want to start by saying, i usually always opt for an Intercontinental hotel, its my first choice in many places around the world. Knowing the brand i do have some high expectations. While this was met with the food and staff, unfortunately the property, especially the rooms did not meet that standard. We had the overwater room, which felt very dated and old. Paint was peeling from the walls, and the amount of old caulk(silicon) in the bathroom was very visible. The hotel is in dire need of a refurbishment or renovation. The wooden floors had a lot of wear and tear as well. We also felt the lighting in the room wasn't enough. Not to mention some of the lights were somewhat flickering. A water jet for the toilet would also have been appreciated. Lastly location is a little away, if you want to be in the center, this won't be the right place for you. We liked being away from the hustle of the city though. All in all its a beautiful property and did meet my expectations when it comes to staff and service, but IHG really needs to give it some attention and renovation. Im not sure i would stay here again until that is done.

The location, the view, the staff, the food, the property, the room. Absolute perfection. It was genuinely worth the money and we got a free upgrade which def was the biggest highlight of the stay. There was nothing to dislike.

Location is wonderful, from the rooms you can see the lake, best view to wake up to. Staff is absolutely crap. You’ll find arrogance with the person who’s at the hospitality deck, when asked about where to go, he said see Hanoi with a Hop On/Hop Off, and no other options. Where we saw people do many other things then he started checking on options, and we only had a day so we basically saw nothing. Very disappointed. Also, there’s this big guy at the reception, who’ thinks he runs the hotel. Horrible service. The duty manager did come and see us and we discussed, and arrange for a trip back to the airport from the hotel’s side. Not recommended for children, or for family stay.(Not friendly)

When I arrived, there were no complimentary fruits—just two bottles of water and two packs of cheap snacks. The food at their Vietnamese restaurant was also very disappointing for the price. Despite being a 5-star hotel in the heart of Hanoi, the quality and taste were far below standard. Although the room was spacious, the design was poor—especially the shower room, where the door couldn’t even be fully opened. I understand the hotel is old, but overall, the facilities felt outdated and worn. What disappointed me the most was the attitude of the receptionists. My mum and I had just undergone cosmetic surgery nearby, so we wanted to treat ourselves to a relaxing stay at a 5-star hotel. Unfortunately, apart from the lake view, everything else was terrible. I would never return to or recommend the InterContinental West Lake Hanoi.

1. Room Reservation Issue Despite my reminder regarding the additional room we booked with a request for 1 king-size bed, we were given 2 small beds. This was not in line with our confirmed reservation. 2. Invoice Request I asked for the invoice at check-in, reminded again at check-out, and still did not receive it. I eventually had to send a separate reminder after departure, which was both inconvenient and unprofessional. 3. Inappropriate Service Pressure at 3 a.m. Upon check-in at 3 a.m., after a long flight and storm-related delays, the front desk insisted multiple times on selling additional services worth 8 million VND. We had to refuse three times. At such an hour, this approach was neither logical nor considerate, as it added unnecessary pressure and offered no real value to our stay.

Having to leave; finding things outside the property or how to get off site was not easy because the property is so extensive but overall would recommend all the way. I later learned about grab so that made it all easier. Also did not have time to eat at the restaurants!
