Good choice at breakfast. Bar was comfortable Great staff. A little tired in decor. Small sink in the bathroom and a light off. No working extractor fan in bathroom.

Staff was pleasant, upgraded our room to “premier.” The location was wonderful. The room, while clean, was very worn. Few outlets, none near the bed. The TV was broken and couldn’t be fixed because the “tech guy doesn’t work weekends.” The toilet paper holder was falling off the wall. Neighbors shouting, slamming doors late at night. No A/C.

Stay improved after a sticky start. Arrived Friday afternoon, parked in carpark at rear of hotel, but found that entrance locked and buzzer failed to rouse anybody. Had to walk up through side alley to main entrance, which caused much grumbling. Receptionist didn't seem to know why rear entrance had been locked, or indeed seemed particularly bothered. However after that stay improved significantly. Lovely room (had applied for, and received, an upgrade for an extra £25per night), and subsequent reception staff much more approachable and knowledgable than initial one. Had a lovely meal in the early evening, with staff again very pleasant and efficient. Location perfect, being in centre of town, and breakfast very nice. All in all, a fine experience, and Mercure is now a serious contender for 'go-to' hotel in central Inverness Front of house staff should be recruited on attitude, rather than a seemingly random set of criteria as at present. Location and excellent breakfast After an exhausting long day travelling, the reception we received at check-in on arrival was scant and very unwelcoming. Very poor erratic Wi-Fi reception. Badly designed and very cramp bathroom. Generally the decor and facilities are ageing, very tired and in need of a serious makeover.

Its proximity to the city The restaurant! It was nothing like the advertised place, service was slow and they didn’t have half of what was on the menu. It lacked any atmosphere and the whole place looked tired. Very disappointing.
