Mates Port Hotel

Very friendly staff. Amazing location. The room was pretty dirty, especially the kitchen wall which was full of fatty splash from people who cooked there before. The whole room is full of much needed repair, including the broken toilet seat and toilet brush. There were protruding rusty nails on the floor. There is an electrical panel in the room with a broken door. Overall, great people, pretty bad room.

Malik is the young man who checked us in. He was a great help during our stay. Our luggage did not arrive with us and he went out of his way to try to make sure we got it before we boarded our cruise ship. He told us the best way to get around town. He also helped us walk to the ship with our luggage. The room was quaint and comfortable. The hotel is tucked away on a quiet street, we were able to walk to a lot of great spots. Unfortunately it is an older building and does not have an elevator. We were in the 4th floor.

clean, modern, perfect service by the receptionist. The room is very small, tbh I don't mind staying in such tiny spaces, but not with that price, the rooms in the third floors were really challenging to go up, no elevator.

Very clean and comfy..the staff is amazing and very welcoming.whenever I had an issue or a question the gentleman was always with me on the phone with plenty of help and assistance .i would definitely come back to this place again .. Just the traffic jam..taxi sometimes can’t go through the area but still it can drop you off too close ..just have to walk couple hundred meters but it’s surely worth it

The staff were friendly and accommodating, always ready to assist with any inquiries or requests. The rooms were clean and well-maintained, with modern amenities. I particularly appreciated the comfortable bed and the quiet atmosphere, which allowed for restful nights after long days of sightseeing. Great location, Karakoy is so vibrant part with just few minutes walking from ferry and tram. Hotel room was clean, had everything I needed. The staff was so nice and helped me with my suitcases. The hotel even if it's in this area with a lot of bars and coffees and the noise can be until 2-3 in the morning didn't have any noise which is important. Really recommending this hotel!

We asked about room with 2 beds, but room came with queen size bed, we arrived at 4 am so we can’t contact management, Regarding cleanliness, the room was not clean at all, and this was one of the annoying things.

First of all the location of the hotel is great. You find yourself perfectly located to explore all that Istanbul have to offer! Second but even more important the staff is great , very friendly and helpful! Recommended!

Comfortable mattress The attitude of the “manager”/ receptionist called Erol was awful and traumatizing. This man is very rude and unprofessional. This hotel should no longer be on booking.com. - Rooms are much tinier that said on the website (my closet is bigger than the given room booked for 2). - The room was not cleaned before our arrival - The street where the entrance is located is dirty and smelly. - No place in the bathroom or anywhere in the room to hang towels or anything. - Two people couldn’t fit in the room. - Feeling not safe at all in this room - AC stopped working during the night. We asked for help but the manager/receptionist got annoyed, shouted at us multiple times and kicked us of the hotel as I disturbed him while he was eating his dinner with the cleaner. He shouted at us that he had a busy day today (we asked for help at 9am when we left the room and came back at 7:45pm but nothing was done). He had a threatening attitude until the last seconds. He followed us and continued to insult us in the streets. We stayed only 1 night as we were kicked out. Extremely bad experience. Actually the worst of my life. I do not recommend this place if you are a woman or from any Arab country as he made racist comments to my Iraqi friend. I lived 4,5 years in Türkiye and I have been going all around the country twice a year since 2010. I can assure you that this behavior is exceptional and does not reflect the kindness of the citizens of this country. Booking.com reacted very quickly and was supportive.

The location is good and quite compare to other many Karakoy hotels. No elevator you have to carry your staff in small very steep ladder. Air conditioning poor it gets really hot for summer. Poor HVAC system in bathroom. If you want to open the window there is no nets to prevent mosquitoes to enter the room. If you close window it is hot if you leave open, mosquitoes bother you to sleep. Please update the air conditioner system, also clean some furnitures, carpet etc. You could add some beverages to minibar. In general if you are looking for comfortable stay it is not right place but if you are looking just to save some money and dont care much about the comfort it is right place.
