Meroddi Pera Flats

Unsupportive staff and an unsafe environment that left us dealing with a serious injury and zero help. We stayed at Meroddi Pera Hotel in Istanbul around our wedding on 1 July (multiple apartments booked via Booking.com covering 26 June–4 July for our group of family, plus a further booking for my parents and sister until 8 July). The location near Galata was convenient. However, the toilets had an occasional unpleasant smell. The far more serious problem occurred on 4 July during rain: the floor just inside the hotel entrance was wet, with no wet-floor sign or warning. My mother slipped, fractured her ankle, and later required surgery at home involving screws and a plate. An ambulance came; I asked the hotel to send someone to the hospital to help with Turkish translation because paramedics could not speak English. They refused. My parents then checked out the same day even though they had paid through 8 July so they could return home for surgery. The property refused any refund — neither for the unused nights nor any contribution toward the medical costs — despite the accident happening on their unmarked wet floor and their complete lack of assistance. We left feeling the hotel prioritised protecting itself over basic guest safety and support.

Location and staff The apartment was clean, comfortable, and in a fantastic location close to Galata Tower. However, our departure experience left a very negative impression. Before checking out, I arranged and paid in advance for an airport transfer to Istanbul Airport. At the scheduled pickup time, no vehicle arrived. The reception staff could not provide a clear explanation of what had happened or what the backup plan was. Instead, my family and I were left waiting for approximately 45 minutes while they tried to find another vehicle. When I asked for a refund of the airport transfer so I could arrange alternative transportation myself, the request was met with reluctance rather than understanding. In the end, an alternative car was eventually arranged, and fortunately we did not miss our flight, but the delay and uncertainty caused unnecessary stress for my family. Airport transfers are a time-critical service. If a hotel cannot provide a transfer as booked, it should have a reliable contingency plan or promptly refund the guest so they can make alternative arrangements. I believe a refund of the airport transfer fee would have been a fair and appropriate resolution, but this was not offered. While the accommodation itself met our expectations, the way this situation was handled significantly affected our overall experience.

First of all I'd like to give a BIG SHOUT OUT to Mike Larson from guest relations team! If it wasn't for him we'd probably would have left early even though we had two additional bookings with more people coming later that week. Mike did what he could with what he had to work with. Muhammad from the reception area was also very helpful. Great location Comfortable beds and clean linens Free water Good AC once it was fixed I understand that the Meroddi is in a historical area where the buildings are older. That being said, I think the properties need some major work. We had booked 3 separate apartments and upon arrival none of the air conditioning units worked properly and in fact one of them did not work at all. In addition, we also had to deal with moldy/mildewy showers, loose floor boards, mold in the bedroom, and water damaged ceilings. For the apartment with the broken air conditioning unit, they attempted to find us a replacement apartment. After spending almost 4 hours dealing with all this, the only acceptable choice was to down grade to a hotel room and give up our kitchen and laundry. Although we were weren't happy about it, it was the only acceptable solution. This was not how we wanted to spend our first day in Istanbul. The only compensation that was provided for this down grade was free breakfast for the group. And we thank Mike for that. With some moderate maintenance this would of been a great place to stay!

Central location, clean, close to sishane metro station and tunel, kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine. The staff was very nice and helpful. We stayed for 5 nights, on the first floor. Unlike indicated on booking.com, the apartment was not soundproof. Two nights out of 5 I couldn't sleep because of the noise coming from the street (also in the middle of the night), but especially because of other guests talking loudly or laughing on the stairs and common areas. That was a pity. I wish the door and windows were truly soundproof as indicated. It would have been an amazing stay.

The property has a great location, close to everything. The building is very old and needs major repairs. Was very small for 4 people. Every problem we had was brought up to the main desk. Nothing was ever done. Bathroom being one. My wife and Daughter were constantly getting locked in bathroom because there was no handle to open sliding door except a broken hole where you have to stick your finger in. But ladies with long finger nails cannot. The washer/ dryer didn’t work properly. The dryer did not work at all, we spoke the cleaning ladies and they suggested asking for a cloths rack to hang wet wash. When I asked the older gentleman at main front desk he said no problem I understand. They sent us three coat hangers.

Nice and clean, great location, right next to Galata, beautiful Bosphorus view! Very good when traveling with family, has option to have 2 and 3 bedrooms.

The hotel is in a great location, within a short walking distance of the Galata tourist precinct. The staff were very kind and helpful throughout our stay. A unique feature is the resident cat in the reception area, as well as a small cat shelter in the laneway behind the hotel, which provides beds and food bowls for local cats. The surrounding area also offers a wide range of amenities within easy walking distance, including great dining options and services such as hairdressers and supermarkets. The three-bedroom apartment felt a bit small for our group of five. The lounge area did not comfortably accommodate all of us, and the bedrooms were quite limited in space, making it difficult to store luggage

This accommodation is located between Galata Tower and Taksim making it easy to reach both in under 10 mins on foot. Nothing to complain about.

All the staff we interacted with were the only highlight and redeeming aspect of this stay, specifically Mike who took care of our needs. The pictures were misleading, as the apartment was not well maintained. Some of the furniture was in poor condition, the chairs were wobbly, and unfortunately my elderly mother fell because of this, which was quite concerning. The bathroom had an unpleasant smell during our stay, the tv didnot work and the kitchen was not properly equipped. Basic amenities were missing.

In our case the location itself not very convinient due to we had 2 kids and strollers in the hills not best option.
