The light switches next to the head of the bed are very bright. I brought an eye mask but it wasn't enough. I had to place something in front of the switches. I checked in around 3:30pm on Sunday and had to wait in a long line. It took about 25 minutes. On both the day of my arrival and departure, the parking garage kiosk said "Temporarily out of service. No payment necessary at this time," so I assumed I wouldn't have to pay for parking. But then when I checked out, I was told that I had to pay for parking. I mentioned the message I read on the kiosk, but they still made me pay. This lack of consistency and transparency was frustrating. Perhaps the Japanese written on the sign explained the situation more clearly. But foreign guests rely on English signage, so when your sign says one thing and then I experience something else, I feel less "welcome" at the hotel. Also, usually all fees are included in the Booking.com prepayment when I prepay on this site, but upon checkout I was also charged a "Bath tax". The bath tax was small, much smaller than the parking fee, but I couldn't help but feel inconvenienced, and like I was being nickled and dimed. FYI - the fitness gym also requires an extra fee.

Great view. Excellent staff.shuttle continent. I wish we can take shuttle between bus stops too. I understand there are some who might take advantage w/o staying. I wish you can make some system.
-
Restaurant information is missing in the room. I had to go to their website. I wish they had a catalog in the room.

The shuttle was extremely convenient. The onsen had an incredible view. It felt like a premium experience, especially compared to the other hotels we stayed in in Japan.

Absolutely awesome location. There's a fascinating view of the city below and the ocean. The hotel itself is surprisingly upscale for the price they charge, which is very reasonable. I was even able to get a last-minute upgrade to a really nice room for just $50 or so. Overall, very impressed. Would love to come back.

The only complaint is that I can't afford coming every year to Kagoshima. I live too far from here. :) oh, actually, I found the pillows on the bed too soft for me. But that's all.

Amazing high quality hotel. Excellent service and great staff. First class restaurants. Absolutely amazing chaff at French restaurant! The location is uphill. So you’ll need a shuttle bus or taxi. We love to walk, so did not mind going by stairs from the town, less than 10 minutes slow Nothing

The staff was very nice and helpful. Highly recommend. Nothing

A legendary hotel with incredible views of Sakurajima volcano, located in an area both rich with history and beautiful, albeit a little remote. If you don’t have a car, the hotel offers really helpful shuttle buses to/from the hotel and 3 key points in the city, which makes it a lot more enticing. The bath is absolutely gorgeous, with views to the volcano, and the facilities are incredible and expansive, there’s even a Family Mart within the hotel. The bus shuttle can be a bit of a drag if you miss the schedule, and the Kahoshimachuo pickup location was hard to find at first and wasn’t really explained well to us. You also have to consider that every time you want to do something in the actual city, it will take these 20 to 30 minutes to get there, but I am nitpicking.

Really cheerful larger hotel with a lot going on. A nice break from the roadtrip we made through Kyushu. There staff was really helpful letting us park our car there for a small fee while we spent three days in Yakushima. The onsen is amazing! there is a terrific view of Sukurajima from the outdoor pool. It's a large hotel and a little hard to find your way around sometimes, but not such a big deal.

Everything was superb! The staff were incredible in kindness and professionalism!! A big hotel with a tranquil atmosphere that allow one to enjoy, absorb, and enjoy!!
-
Perched on hills high above the city with spectacular views of the Sakurajima volcano accross the bay this hotel offers the best of amenities. Great restaurants, daile bus shuttles to town, and a luxurious onsen. The room cound have been larger.

The view from the room was excellent. Meals were very good. We tried tempura restaurant, which was very good and fun. Live music in Casablanca lounge was great None

Breakfast Buffett and the Onsen/Spa were superb! A bit confusing with getting around the property and finding restaurants, bars, etc. The members lounge was never open.

Hotel is very pretty and rooms are spacious but the volcano is really far away and you have to drive up a pretty steep hill which is scary in the dark. This view is from the public onsen so tiny with lots of folks around it so just note that. Now we did have a booking error (our fault) and they handled it so professionally. That was very impressive. It is top service. We got a room with a view of volcano which had two window. One window was the city and one window had a view of volcano far away blocked by trees. If you are looking for a super close view of volcano this is not it. We got there after 9 pm so all restaurants were closed except the bar but they served mainly French food which was just ok. It was on top of a very steep hill so you cannot just walk to a restaurant.

The real site of the last battle in the Last Samurai... had to stay here with my 11 year old. The onsen was amazing. So glad the ferry to Yakushima was canceled for weather and we got to stay an extra night. And the BEST pajamas ever - wish they had sold them. The convenient store was great, especially for traveling with a child getting over jet lag as our eating times were confused. Free bus into town was perfect for riding in and having lunch. Easy taxi to the port. Lovely short walk from hotel up to the observation point. There are a lot of options for restaurants. I would have liked paper menus with opening hours in the room.... never quite worked out the online information. We booked first night through booking.com and then booked 2nd night directly with hotel (because of ferry cancelation). Was very happy they could keep us in the same room, but it was more expensive to book through the hotel directly which doesn't seem quite right.

Great view. Beautiful onsen.

Everything is excellent. The design of the building to ensure every aspect a visitor may need is not just well executed but done above and beyond whatever expectations one may have for a premier hotel. The restaurants are true 5 star experiences, the onsen spa is excellent at all times of the day, the souvenir shops are well-stocked with a variety of goods that cover the many needs of the variety of visitors. The only very minor critique I would have is the scale of the breakfast dining facilities that is currently used right on the edge of being too small in contrast to the number of hotel occupants during busy seasons. The queue of breakfast attendants does get processed quickly enough that nobody leaves unsatisfied, with the easiest way to remedy it on an individual level is for visitors and guests to simply show up earlier before the morning rush.
