Athena Hotel Kampala

It’s in a quiet neighborhood. On weekends they had parties that go up to midnight. Some of the front desk employees could be a bit more friendly and knowledgeable about the neighborhood of the hotel.

The breakfast had a big selection and was very tasty. Everyone loved the fish with the peppers. I also enjoyed the fresh juices and chamomile tea. The hotel is beautiful and has inspiring art pieces and decor all around. I only stayed one night but it was left a good impression. The beds gave me a comfortable sleep but some people in my group prefer firmer mattresses. Also, giving notice at check-in that some doors do not slam lock, you have to pull it shut, because you could walk away thinking it is closed.

I definitely recommend The shuttle driver apparently was not informed in time by the booking company and showed up 40 min later than expected...Luckily, we had built it extra time to account for Kampala traffic to reach back to the airport.

The staff made the breakfast experience great; the selection was not so wide, but it was adequate. The bathroom was sizeable and clean; the check-in staff were also super helpful. It was a stress-free hotel that was located close to the venue where we were having a family gathering. All in all a very clean, problem free stay. It was approximately 95 dollars a night; I think it could have been less costly. I am not sure about bringing my children; I didn't see child-friendly spaces.

The food was very expensive. The gym equipment was very old and minimal.

Well worth the return visit

Everything about the Hotel is awesome.

Check in was easy. Location superb! Just that the foyer was very small and could only fit 2 cars so drop off was rushed. The staff are ALL awesome. Jesse (our waiter) totally totally exceeded expectations at handling us. He was very knowledgeable on the menu and general questions about Uganda that we asked. Jean Claudde was also very helpful whenever we needed assistance. The waiters on our checkout morning, awesome people. My mam was very happy. The shower had very good pressure but the overhead wasn't turning on so we relied on the hand one, which was also not facing forward well. Had to stand on the side.

Breakfast was better than expected. Omlettes and cappuccinos are made to order, no extra charge. Good variety on the breakfast bar. There was nothing not to like. This place is great!

My stay was short but very comfortable. i was just passing through headed for a business trip and i was praying for a very quiet room. I got exactly that. i believe it was sound proofed. slept like a baby Nothing really. since it was a short stay there was nothing really negative to look a.
