Kikunoya Ryokan

The location was amazing, all walking distance, very nice host and huge room. Small onsen in the ryokan.

My Japanese is not enough

Extremely friendly, professional, courteous service during our 2 nights stay. Clean facilities. We needed a printout of our bus tickets and the gentleman at the front desk did it immediately with a smile. It was a perfect stay!

The host was wonderful. We had triple room on first floor. Shared bathroom and shower on same floor. Didn't see kitchen but we were really only there for sleeping. Very hard to find with google maps. No big signs outside and it's tucked a bit behind another building. Very noticeable damp/musty smell but everything was clean. Futons on floor were very thin and in the triple there was barely room to walk around. Limited outlets for charging overnight. Seemed pricey for what you get but is very close to some major sites. Would probably pick different neighborhood next time.

For some reason, there never seemed to be hot water in the bathroom sinks.

I showed up bedraggled from the rain, and they kindly let me check in early, which was a relief. My room was very spacious for one person, and the futon comfortable. The bathing area was also clearly clean and well-kept, and also had a charming figure pointing you to where to put your towels. From my specific room, I did have to go downstairs to use the restroom, which wasn’t an issue for me, but might be harder for someone with limited mobility or who needs easy access to the restroom. But I’m sure they can accommodate those needs!

It was tricky to find the place the first time, because it is between two buildings, but the overall experience was awesome. The staff was very attentive since we stepped in, and the room was cleaned daily. The facilities were great. Even though the bathroom is shared, it can only be used by one party at a time, so no bathing with strangers. The location was perfect, in the middle of most of the touristic attractions. It was quiet at night. I would stay here again for sure. There was nothing negative related to this property. There was some noise outside but was due to some construction happening at night. Unrelated to the property.

Location is great for visiting the castle and garden with many food places near by.

Other guests were noisy and one night we could hear music from a nearby establishment. The single shared toilet on the upper floor is in a tiny room and next to another guest room.

Lovely little spot tucked away. Kind owner and beautiful shared bath. We had no issues waiting for the bath— in fact, we didn’t see any other guests there. The room was spacious and had AC. After we checked in, we didn’t see the host again. We wanted to ask about doing laundry but couldn’t find him to ask.

It was a nice place to stay and conveniently located. I wanted the Ryoken experience. But it was hard to adjust to not having chairs in the room.

The owner of Kikunoya Ryokan was so proud of his place and he should be. Nice little ryokan tucked away in a corner. Everyday fresh hot thermos of tea! Lovely onsen, nice room! Nothing at all

The location was exceptional: easy walking to delicious restaurants, great shopping & Kenroku-en. The price was very reasonable, thus the ryokan is a great value. I appreciated the wonderful hospitality of hot water & tea in our room. The lovely fresh camellia in our room was a nice bonus!

No breakfast at the hotel, but there was a department store with a food court in the basement within a 7-minute walk, and the bento boxes were fantastic! Close to Kanazawa Castle and Kenrokuen Park. Cabs were available from the department store, so we used them to get to and from the train station (about 15 minutes by cab, about 20 minutes by bus). Can't think of anything. This is an older house with traditional tatami mats and futon for sleeping, which was very comfortable. Not a good choice if you want western-style rooms, but completely redone bath and western toilets, very modern and sparkling clean. Most of the rooms are upstairs, but we had luggage that would have been a struggle, so the owner put us on the ground floor. I think it's family-run, limited English, but wonderful people.

Absolutely loved staying here. The owner and staff went above and beyond to make us comfortable and even helped carry luggage up the stairs. I would absolutely stay there again. I loved everything.

We like the big bath, very comfortable.

The only thing that wasn't spectacular was the wifi (but that may have been specific to our room).
