Cleanliness. Breakfast. Warmth of staff. View from room and rooftop. Private bath. Expect toilet to be outside your room. But it’s still private.

The location was spectacular, one of the most beautiful neighborhoods we encountered in Kyoto, near but not in a very touristy area. The room was extremely pleasant. The staff was friendly and generous with their help. The rooftop was a lovely place to see Kyoto (including the nearby beautiful pagoda) and the forested hillside behind the ryokan. We had to walk a bit to get to bus lines, but it was worth it to be in that location. Sometimes the nearby streets were so crowded with tourists they were had to navigate, but that was hardly the fault of the ryokan. And its own street was blissfully empty even when nearby ones were crowded, so we felt isolated from the tourism when in our room, and especially at night and in the early mornings.

Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, location was very convenient, and felt very authentic!

The property is located in the heart of the traditional kyoto area. Its clean. The interactions we had with the staff were helpful and warm. The traditional breakfast we ordered in the morning was a good experience overall. They also accommodated my wife's vegetarian request. It just doesn't provide the value for what we paid. We paid a higher per night charge here than what we paid at another location in Kyoto. The room given to us barely fit the 4 of us. It also barely fit the 4 beds that were given. Nothing was bad quality or anything like that but it's not comparable at all to the other property that we paid less per night for. No kitchen for you to use, the toilet is outside the room through a shared area, and the sink is also in the shared area. The other property was an entire japanese-style house with a private bathtub, 2 bedrooms, a living room and a functioning kitchen. It was only 11 minutes away walking. I would be happy to stay here for a significantly lower fee.

Incredible location, staff are super friendly and made us feel very welcomed! I cannot recommend this place enough! Also the rooftop is a huge added bonus, we will certainly be back!

The property is amazing and gave a very traditional and authentic feel versus the more modern cities we visited. The breakfast is fantastic, I highly recommend doing that during your stay. The bathroom was nice and modern despite the traditional feel of the room. Make sure to try the hot tub, and take some time to see the city from the rooftop. The view from the roof is beautiful. The location is the best it could be, right around the corner from so many shops and restaurants. There might not be a bell out when you arrive, but there will definitely be somebody right around the corner that can check you in and show you to your room.

The staff were very helpful, kind, and friendly. Especially Eri-san — her breakfast was wonderful, and she was always willing to help us with anything we needed. We really appreciated her hospitality!

The room was lovely, with our own private bathroom and shower as well as an assortment of teas. We slept so comfortably on the tatami mats! I would highly recommend staying at this place. Our host was truly kind and generous! N/A

Location, peaceful area minutes away from busy streets and temples. Breakfast was delicious. Staff was amazing and made sure we were comfortable. More hooks to hang our things and more outlets for charging phones, etc.

Hospitality was wonderful. Close to beautiful stone streets full of shops and restaurants. When it says “with shower” that does not mesh the shower is physically part your room. It wasn’t a shared shower or toilet, but those doors were in a shared space, not directly part of your private room.

We are a family of four with boys aged 12 & 14 and stayed 4 nights. Our stay was the highlight of our trip to Japan. The location is fantastic and close walking distance to many of the sites in Gion area and an easy walk to transit for further exploring. The breakfast is an absolute must and was fantastic, it was both wonderful food and an authentic Japanese experience. We all appreciated the chance to experience the traditional accommodation and the rooftop views are spectacular. Finally, our hosts were welcoming and generous and helpful with recommendations. This included messaging prior to our arrival regarding luggage arrangements which was very helpful. We will stay here anytime we are in Kyoto again!

The staff are incredible. Best stay we had in Japan. Kazuki went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and enjoying our stay. He even provided us with recommendations for places to visit around Kyoto. The Japanese style breakfast was delicious! And The Japanese bath was so relaxing after a long day of walking and the traditional feel of the entire place was wonderful. Absolutely 10/10 experience will be staying here again. Nothing
