Great property, great bar, great staff, great location Nothing

World-class staff. Rooms are really nice and the entire hotel is beautiful. The lounge area that's open most of the day for guests to drop in and grab a bite and a drink is a standout both in terms of the offerings, staff and the view of a nearby shrine. This hotel is located near a lot of good dining and retail options. Gion-area just north of here felt like main & main when we were walking around and you're basically right there. Found breakfast to be subpar which was a bit of a bummer relative to how good their lounge setup was. One thing that's a pro and a con depending on your preference/itinerary is that the hotel is located in a very very busy area off a relatively narrow, one-way, one-lane road. The reason it's so popular is that further up the hill-line is a popular attraction that most guests at the hotel will eventually see so from that perspective it's conveniently located. However, taxi's coming to and from the hotel get stuck in this congestion of people and it can be a bit overwhelming to step into whenever you leave or want to return to the hotel so just something for people to be aware of before booking. We eventually would walk about 4 min west down the hill and called ubers to a main road to save time to work around this.

Property was in an excellent location. Staff was very friendly. Hotel is a little pricey overall. Upon Che k out there is a high tax that is charged.

My family and I considered this hotel one of the best hotels we ever stayed at. We enjoyed all the restaurants within the hotel (Japanese, French, and Italian) and really like the lounge. Nothing to report . Everything was perfect

Great location. Excellent service. Great restaurants Nice ambiance

Awesome location with a beautiful room and a delicious breakfast. Loved the guest lounge with free food and drinks. Free Geisha show in the lounge was also a treat! My only complaint is that we could not use the private hot tubs without paying an additional fee.

Service exceeded expectations

The location was fabulous and the facilities were first class! Ingress and egress were different at times but that was because it was so close to the tourist attractions
-
I loved the library dining room and the breakfast was yummy - we loved the traditional offerings - they were delicious The restaurants were not as good as eating out in town
-
The room was comfortable and large with big windows, well equipped. Lots of light, roof top and pagoda views, modern and serene room. The bathroom is big, great hot water pressure, wonderful amenities constantly replenished. Loved the wood tooth brushes, combs, and hair brushes. Very sweet to send up to the room nonalcoholic Chardonnay for a birthday—was delicious. Guests should be told to wear the indoor slippers provided by the hotel because the carpets have dirt stains. The third sofa bed was smaller than expected. Non dairy milk or creamer should be provided for the coffee machine.

Hotel is phenomenal, new and good design that respects the old school. The staff were fantastic, and super helpful. Excellent location. The best hotel we stayed in in Japan nothing - it's amazing!

Our 3rd visit to the hotel. We love staying here. Nice room, good location, and very helpful staff :) Nothing

Location, building Continental breakfast was just okay. But the traditional Japanese Michelin breakfast was amazing. Kids struggled to find something they liked.

Very luxurious experience. Hotel was close to 2 historic UNESCO sites and lots of tourist shopping. The "guest lounge" concept was impressive and I enjoyed many champagnes there with finger food. Far from "normal" restaurants - need a 20 minute brisk walk, which is not always recommended in winter with little kids and an old parent.
-
Guests have access to the guest lounge, and there are also several convenient stores nearby for a quick breakfast option. Can’t think of anything.

Staff was excellent and very helpful. Location makes it easy to walk to sites, dining, and interesting shops. Rooms are spacious, clean, quiet, and comfortable. Drink bar is well stocked (and restocked). Great breakfast. Enjoyed the lounge. Good food in the roof top bar. We will return next year.
