The room and overall accommodation was amazing. Authentic, clean, and comfortable. I loved that you could utilize the private Onsen, includes an authentic Japanese breakfast, and tea upon check-in. The main reason we booked this Inn was because we heard about the Omakase experience. The private chef that would go to the fish market and prepare a dining experience for the guests each night. A very unique and intimate dining experience. We checked into the Inn on Sunday. We were excited to relax in the Onsen and have an amazing dinner to follow. EXCEPT, we were informed after we checked in that they only have one chef, and he has off every Sunday. Which is fine, everyone deserves a day off. Minus the fact that we just paid over $400 for one night. Oh and also you get one hour in the Onsen. The staff members were very kind, and I believe this may have been a communication error, but in my mind, without dinner, it was not worth $400. The dining experience is posted all over their social media, making it seem like the main highlight of the stay. Unfortunately, we were unable to have that experience. Also, you are given a "free drink" IF you post about their establishment on your social media. I'm sorry but I feel that's extremely unprofessional. Again, we paid $400. I should just get a free drink included with my stay. I shouldn't have to post about my stay in order to get the drink. Lastly, we had to sleep with eye masks on because there was a light shining directly into our room. So if you stay here, don't go on a Sunday AND bring your eye masks!

A phenomenal stay. Can’t say enough how much we enjoyed it. Our last night in Japan and this was the ultimate experience. From the moment we entered we were treated with kindness and respect. Every detail is considered and noticed… even the cutlery was laid out correctly for a left-handed guest. You need to book the baths and then take turns to use the showers in the morning but everything flowed smoothly. Dinner was exceptional - 7 courses meticulously prepared by the owner, who afterwards gave a very informative talk about the history of the inn. Breakfast is served in your room and cleared away an hour later. Everything moves like clockwork but at the speed you need while on holiday. If you want an authentic experience of Japan then we can’t recommend Izayusu enough - it was a dream come true!

The staff was really nice with the exception of the manager - he was rude to me and gave me a really bad attitude. I do like the room design overall The manager and the price. For a shared shower and strict curfew at 11pm and strict breakfast timing from 7am to 8.30 pm the price is ridiculously high and more than luxury hotels. When I was trying to understand their prices in general the manager gave me a bad attitude - this is something terrible considering the concept and energy of the hotel. Very dissapointing

amazing and delicious seasonal food, and a nice lesson on the history of the Ryokan and it's owner's family. I am already planning on returning for another visit

    - accommodating staff - traditional Japanese Choshoku (breakfast) - no ensuite

  • Engine customer Nov 2025

We had a wonderful stay! Staff was so attentive. The onsen baths are private and they will reserve them for you, as a part of your stay cost. Such a wonderful way to unwind at the end of the day! Nothing!

We absolutely adored Holly who was very kind and willing to answer all questions thoroughly. We had an amazing experience opting in for the chef's dinner. Would recommend this to anyone booking here. You will not regret it. The beds were slightly too firm.

The property was beautifully maintained, the staff were kind, and the dinner prepared by the owner and chef was among the best food we’ve ever had. When any family or friends ask us about our trip to Japan, our stay at Izuyasu will be the first thing we mention.

The inn was so pleasant and lovely inside. The care and love of the structure were evident in every one we met there. Holly was so kind to us and such a gem for the inn. Nothing bad to say about the property.
