I loved the breakfast. There were large portions and it was delicious. The rooms were really comfortable and I enjoyed every minute of staying there Some TV channels were not working

Suggestions: some attention needed to maintenance of simple things like touch up paint on scratches/chips on tables and chairs. Even on the stand up inn sign outside lobby will spruce up the look so it doesn’t look old and drab. Maybe some black or red lacquered paint on the top of stained round tea set container in the room will freshen it. The seat cushions are hard, not so comfortable. However, the inn does have good simple traditional charm.

Staff very helpful and courteous. Location was convenient. Property clean.Amenities sufficient. Bathroom and hallways can use updating.

The location of the hotel is fantastic, providing easy access to local attractions while still offering a peaceful and serene atmosphere. I really enjoyed the chance to experience traditional Japanese culture in such a central and convenient spot. Staying at a ryokan was a completely different experience from other hotels, and it was a delight to try something new. The room was charming, with tatami mats and sliding doors, creating an authentic and calming atmosphere. The meals were also a highlight, offering delicious traditional Japanese dishes that were both beautifully presented and full of flavor.

The staff was friendly and was easy to communicate with! The breakfast options tasted delicious the traditional futon bedding was actually pretty comfortable. It was nice to just slow down from a busy trip with the public bath! Definitely worth the stay!!

Classical japanese room experience

A little pricey for what’s included, but the location and charm made up for it.

The staff and the location, as well as the attention to details, like the onsen, the tea set, and the traditional breakfast.
-
Great receptionist, very helpful ! There’s a onsen in the top floor that you can use mostly all day/night and breakfast every morning, really really close to the main train station !

I stayed two nights and it was very convenient for staying close to Kyoto Station. Also I liked the bath as it felt cleaner and more spacious as my owns room bathroom. Sleeping on the floor and having the traditional feeling was great, but the hotel itself is just “old” as in used - which shows at doors, tables etc. however it was clean and quite to stay at. The staff was the most welcoming and hard working people I have met so far on my trip!
-
The traditional atmosphere with a little of a modern touch. There wasn’t much of an explanation on how I can have a traditional ryokan meal at this location.

As it was my first experience with this supposedly famous ryokan I found it extremely uncomfortable. I am 1.78cm (5.10) tall and the floor seating opportunity at the table & mattress on the floor was beyond uncomfortable. Since I suffered a sore back . The open bath provided wasn’t worth mentioning. Not for me . Never again .

Staying at this ryokan was an absolutely amazing experience. The staff were warm and welcoming, always ready with a smile and kind assistance. The location was perfect – peaceful yet conveniently close to local sights. The room was beautifully traditional, very comfortable, and the futon and bedding were incredibly cosy. One of the highlights was the bath facility – impeccably clean and so relaxing, a real treat after a day of exploring. A truly memorable stay, and I’d love to return!

It was great to stay in a Ryokan and it’s within a short walk from the station and lots of stores and restaurants. The room was comfy enough and they provided tea and water. There’s also a lovely hot onsen style bath. The price was high per night for what you get.

Sleeping on floor. And it wasn't hard at all. Hot bath on upper floor. Traditional dress provided.
