Enjoyed the traditional Japanese stay. The beds were very comfy and liked that I was able to book a room with all females. Location isn’t the best, but oh well

Property was at very good location . It had good kitchen . The stuffs used for decoration were really good and cool . Not bad value but can improve more . Felt like we’re back in 1800’s Door needs to be fixed . It was the problem and we might need some ventilation too . And please provide some good blankets at least . And also please add some bright lights too traditional light is good but that room is way to small if left with just one light it will be all yellow .

very cozy and friendly environment, i loved the privacy curtains there is no locks to the front door or to your room, but it did feel like a safe neighborhood.

I went there in summer and the air-conditioning was poor. I could not control the temperature of the room, so it was really hot.

I stayed there for 5 nights. The hostel is located around an hour (by foot) from kyoto station. The street was calm, quiet and dark at night perfect for sleeping. Every bed has its own curtains for privacy:) the walls are very thin and it's not very big but the "living room" area was a perfect spot for meeting your fellow travelers and have the best talks) The washing machine is outside and it's cool..because you don't have to add any laundry detergent to it.. it gets automatically added in by the machine.. costs 300yen. No dryer but that's allright. When I arrived my bed was very very uncomfortable.. it was the 6 bunkbed dorm room.. my bed (it was the only bed left ) didn't had a bamboo mat under this thin futon? matrass.. I was basically just lying on wood panels. I hate complaining but I could have not slept on that for 5 nights!not even one... I had to mention it to the young receptionist three times until she realized how serious I was.. but then she tried everything to make my bed more comfortable and gave me two more thinner foldable matrasses and blankets to put under and the next day I got another.. it was quite comfortable in the end. Another downside.. but I don't think I can blame the hostel for it??! After the 2nd night my towel went missing!!!?! It was hanging on the edge of my bed and when I got "home after a long day it was just gone and hasn't been found since..:((

This facility has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The shared kitchen is fully equipped with a fridge, microwave, toaster, water kettle, and all the necessary utensils, and it's available for guests to use. The bathroom and shower areas are clean and well-maintained, and they even provide shampoo, body wash, conditioner, and a hairdryer. I stayed in the room next to the common area and was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable it was. The bed was big enough and very cozy. Although the walls are quite thin, everyone was very respectful of the house rules and kept noise to a minimum, which made for a peaceful stay. Several bus stops are within walking distance (about 6 minutes each), and buses run frequently, making it easy to get around. The staff were also very friendly and took the time to show me everything I needed to know. Overall, I would highly recommend this place — it’s clean, comfortable, convenient, and very well-managed!

The man working at the front desk was quite impolite and should learn how to communicate with kindness with their customers.

Good location with easy access to amenities (eg. supermarket) and public transport in pretty much all directions. Dorm beds fairly spacious, hostel was clean and cozy. Equipped kitchen and bathroom (wonderful shower products included!) Cramped luggage storage and pretty cramped all around. Ok for my size but anyone taller or wider would probably struggle with using showers and toilets. Also privacy concerns — larger luggage cannot be locked up and the door to the women’s dorm room had no lock either. Additionally, no space to keep unrefrigerated food in the kitchen as there is no shelving space.

The location was relative close to different bus lines and the cleanness. Wifi works very good. The receptionist was very kind, but she wasn’t there when we need to make check in, check out, laundry or any other question you have to send email and doesn’t answer in the time. The best has a thin mattress so you feel the wood of bed. The pillow was thin, the bed moves any moment when me or other moves in the bed. The courtains around the beds, the street outside, the aircon machine was very noise. I could sleep as I was very tired, but if you have light sleep, don’t book this hostel. There is 2 toilet rooms and 2 shower rooms. The toilets so skinny that it was ever hardly to seat, and the floor has kind decorative stones that difficult it much more. I’m not tall, fortunately, as my knees. There was. Hold hostel is very dark, no natural light in any room, cold generally. Never could use the laundry but I really need it. There is a lost rules for the guests, but the staff doesn’t be there. Spensive for the place

+ it was a really clean place and generally very quiet/calm + the people I met in the hostel were nice and kind - I was never given any tour since I did a late check in and never understood how I could use the laundry, I had to go to the one 5min away - some kitchen stuff isn’t the best, the knives aren’t as sharpened and the rice cooker is old and you can’t see the program it is on - sometimes there wasn’t any hot shower water

Love the atmosphere. First time living in a wooden house. Quite an experience. I stayed for 10 days. Noise insulation is really a problem. This can’t be helped. So bring some earplugs if you got trouble sleeping under noise. The bed can be slightly thicker.

We’ve been there for 4 nights and seen none from the staff. Facilities are really disapointed, everything is tricky and good luck if you are more than 1,60cm tall. The price is much higher than it should be.

If you want a traditional experience, this place is great for you. The staff is very friendly, but not around much. Their English is not perfect but they manage and do their best. Something I really liked is how much information they gave on local events and places to visit. The futons were in my personal experience also really comfy but my brother said he didn't sleep well on them. I also would like to add that I absolutely loved the decor. The place isn't the most comfortable but I definitely liked the experience and it's what you can expect from the type of housing. Take the negatives into account when booking though because this place is definitely not for everyone. Be prepared for an old house with a lot of cracks and holes in the wall through which air enters, meaning that the house gets very cold in Winter. Our room did have a heating AC system that luckily managed to keep us comfortable but not warm warm because there were holes in the wall near the roof. The common living room has a gas heater that works pretty well but I personally get headaches from the gassy smell. The kitchen and bathroom were freezing and we didn't end up using the shower because it was just too cold. The bathroom is downstairs and there's no toilet upstairs so at times it was a little inconvenient to go to the bathroom, especially with the cold, but it's manageable (though beware that the stairs are very steep). I recommend wearing slippers downstairs (outdoor shoes are not allowed) as the floor is ice cold in Winter. Honestly, for a few days the place is a nice experience but I wouldn't want to stay here for a longer period of time, especially in Winter (and probably in Summer). The location is also not the most convenient. There's no metro nearby but the buses do manage to get you around (though beware that city buses don't allow big luggage and the nearest Hands Free Bus is 16 minutes walking away, which doesn't sound like a lot but becomes a lot when walking with big heavy suitcases). The nearest convenience store is a 6-7 minute walk. It was nice to see a more Japanese everyday neighbourhood without any other tourists though, but that also means that you can't exactly go for an evening stroll after 5-6PM because absolutely nothing will be open in the area and you'll need to go to the city center for any kind of things to do.

Cozy and homely atmosphere, unique interior, clean beds and facilities. Well equipped kitchenette, friendly staff. It may seem cramped, as it is a small building with some narrow passages, but for me it only added character. The walls are thin, therefore you may hear some noise from the inside or from the street, but it was perfectly fine for me, since this is a hostel that you share with others.

It is a renovated old style house. It is very beautiful and it gives it a charm. However the space is very reduced and it can feel overwhelming. I wouldn’t recommend staying here if yo are a very tall or big person. The fact that the space is limited forces you to be in the common area, which makes it very easy to meet fellow travelers. I liked the location. It is a little bit far from the busy areas but the neighbourhood is beautiful and quiet. You also have a supermarket and a couple of bus stops quite close. It was very pricy for a shared dormitory and such reduced space. I don’t personally have problems to sleep but you can hear literally EVERYTHING. The common area/kitchen was just next to my dormitory and there isn’t even a door that separates, it’s a piece of cloth so you hear people talking as if they were next to you.

The staff were very friendly, showed me around the property and made sure I was comfortable! They have information about restaurants and facilities around. The hostel was very comfortable and decorated very nicely. The shower isn't very good, not very comfortable and doesn't look very clean. The toilet is a little narrow and I also saw a cockroach there... However the staff showed me on the map where the nearest onsen is (5 minutes away) and they allowed me to take the towel I rented from them with me so the shower didn't interrupt my stay so much.
