Great Facilities. We loved the room and the decor.

The staff was incredibly helpful and kind. The location was perfect! Could walk to everything. Best location other than actually staying in gion. I was very happy I chose this place. We booked the deluxe room and loved it. The bathroom was amazing! Shower was the best. I would say good morning to the toliet!! There was nothing I didn’t like. But I think they should not advertise breakfast included. Breakfast is not until 8:30am and we we gone by 6 to make sure we beat the crowds. It made me feel like I missed out on value (which I didn’t). The staff was accommodating and offered to bring us a few beers instead. They probably do it to compete with other places that do or don’t offer breakfast but I didn’t get it. Not a big deal at all but seemed odd. Seriously. With or without breakfast this place is great!

If my husband didn’t complain, we would have stayed in the same small room the second night.

Central location, friendly staff

There are many wonderful things to highlight about Hotel Muso. Firstly, location: easy walking distance to Nishiki Fish Market, east Kyoto for Gion and temples, and even good walking more north towards Nijo Castle and imperial gardens. Secondly, room and amenities: impeccably clean and very thoughtfully laid out with pristine shower and bathroom setups, luxurious hair and facial products, and very comfortable loungewear. Finally and most importantly, the staff: led by Ryo-san and his righthand person, Ryota-san, who both provided their phone numbers for any questions, as well as the rest of the staff who delivered the sandwiches and lattes with care and a smile in the morning. We received recommendations on 3 areas to eat, specific names for ramen and izakaya places, and a very sweet gift of sparkling wine for our honeymoon. Would not hesitate to stay again and recommend to everyone we know. Thank you! Nothing to add beyond praise.

Breakfast was a weak link. Not up to the excellence of all other aspects of the property. I hope and expect they will improve or eliminate it. Breakfast

Property Owner Ryo and Ryota were exceptional and patient helping us with restaurant recommendations- reservations and trying to log on to Tablecheck….almost 1 hour of effort. Terrific local neighborhood location near to main streets- to Nishiki market or Gion Pontocho. Convenient to have a 24 hour 7-11 across the alley. Their services included a daily breakfast hotdog Arabiki, pastrami and red bean paste with butter. Daily cleaning and linen changes were available. Big beautiful marble bathroom with soak tub, rain head shower and separate toilet room. Convenient fixtures microwave and coffee maker. With only 10 rooms we were spoiled by the personal attention. Thank you for the memories!

Everything! The staff was INCREDIBLE. I want to shoutout Ryota, who was the kindest and most helpful man we’ve met in Japan. Truly an amazing gentleman. The rooms were clean and spacious, the breakfast was lovely, and the bathrooms were our favorite so far in our time here. N/A

From the staff to the quiet to the room design, we were very happy with our stay and would stay there again! The staff was really friendly and helpful. We hated to leave! (Sandwich/hot dog) breakfasts are brought to your room and these are later than we would usually have chosen so be aware if you're an early riser. The location requires a bit of walking from public transportation. The shower sprayed outward to the door so we learned to be careful. Would have liked them not to throw away our soap every day.

Excellent location very close to a lot of the top attractions, including Nishiki Market and Gion, and also close to the main subway lines. Right next-door is a 24 hour 7-11 where you can get a quick bite to eat, but also has an ATM which was useful since some tourist locations are cash only. The hotel staff were amazing, they are super friendly and speak English, and are a great resource for first timers to Kyoto like we were. There’s a daily complimentary breakfast that they offer between 8:30 and 10am and fridge is well stocked with the drinks (both soft drinks and also alcoholic beverages) that are also free of charge, and get restocked daily. The beds are very comfortable, there are futons available as well, which was perfect for our two kids. Bathroom was spacious with a shower next to a whirlpool tub, perfect for relaxing in after a long day of walking. We’re looking forward to staying here again! Literally nothing, this is as close to perfect as you can get.

Wonderful location and kind staff!

The staff was great and upgraded our room for free just because it was open. The hotel is small and the staff is very sweet. You almost dissapoint them if you don't take free services or offerings! They were so thoughtful and kind! We loved our room so much and it would be amazing to stay in as a family as well. I love this hotel too much and will stay here again when I go back! It was so luxurious but also practical which is what I love! Nothing!!!! I didn't get enough time here and wish I stayed longer. Those are the regrets I must now live with.

The staff were so amazing and so accommodating. The location was perfect. Very comfortable rooms. Wonderful amenities. We would recommend for anyone to stay there and we will absolutely be back. Absolutely nothing.
