Safe, clean, lovely staff, comfy bed, charming look. The kitchen and washing machine were really convenient and we loved the traditional bath We loved this Machiya. The shower door is clear which makes it a little tricky at times but we managed

Staff was very responsive: they brought extra padding for my pregnant daughter's futon, helped us make a dinner reservation, and a ordered taxi for us when we checked out. Also, someone was there to let us in when we arrived, even though we had received self check-in instructions due to our arrival after 9:00 p.m. We liked being on a quiet street but not far from a busier area with shops and restaurants. (There were several restaurants even closer.) The subway station was not far either. The bathroom facilities were modern and nice. Plenty of towels. The lighting in our unit was odd. The lights serving the dining area and bedroom area were controlled by the same switch, so you had to have both on or both off. We didn't use the cooktop but it was in a dark corner and seemed like it would be difficult to see while cooking. This is a minor quibble but if you are trying to apply makeup, it is difficult due to the downlighting above the bathroom sink and above the full-length mirror.

Quit, clean, and an excellent location for exploring Kyoto. Everything was within walking distance.

The property was Modern and well located. It was within walking distance to everywhere we wanted to go.

In a unique neighborhood. Can’t think of a thing.

Very beautiful and unique venue. Lovely staff and great room amenities! Need to walk for a moment to the closest metro, also sounds carry well from the hallway and rooms upstairs. This didn’t bother too much as other guests were very peaceful. We stayed on the bottom floor, and unfortunately, there was some mold in the bathroom and living room window shades.

Safe location and was everything we needed for a traditional Machiya. The only issue we ran into was the front desk attendant had informed us to take our luggage to Yamato for transfer on Monday 11/3 but when we got to Yamato, they were closed for Culture Day. We believe she may have forgotten about culture day so we had to take extra timeout of our morning to drop off at a 7-11.

We wanted to drop of our luggage in the morning before check in (which is possible) but there wasn't anybody at the hotel, which was inconvenient, luckily there was a guest who heard us knocking at the door and let us in.

Walking distance to city center, metro/train stations, bus stops and convenience stores. Also, the neighborhood around the hotel is very calm and peaceful. Pillow and mattress combination were not very comfortable. Also, check-in reception was at different location than the hotel (10 minutes driving), so anticipate that you still have to carry your luggages from the check-in location to the hotel by either using the metro or taxi as you could not take big luggages into the local buses.

The check in process is not the easiest

Very good
-
They didn't mention they don't have lift and their staircase is too narrow and straight, hard to carry big luggage to upstairs.
-
Very quiet place but at the same time very convenient in accessing convenient stores and restaurant nearby Very nice machiya, we love it, The only down side is very dusty in the room, can see lots of dust floating in the space.

The room was spacious for our family of four, I liked there is a dining area in the room where we can sit. The Machiya is beautifully restored with a modern touch. We stayed for 3 nights, even though no cleaning service, they provided extra towels for us to change and extra amenities if needed. The kitchen was fully equipped, we were able to cook a simple meal and amenities like green teas and coffee provided. Check in staff were super helpful and friendly. Just have to be aware that check in needs to be done at front desk office at a different location to the Machiya, next to the Kyoto station. However they can send your luggage to the Machiya for you but you have to make your way there by yourself.
