The only thing I did not like is that it only has one laundry machine so you have to be lucky to find it available. Also, keep in mind that the machine works better with smaller loads.

Our stay at KIORI Hotel Takakura was exceptional and easily exceeded our expectations. We paid what I would consider 3-star hotel prices, but the experience felt much closer to a 4-star hotel. The property was modern, spotless, and beautifully maintained, and the rooms were surprisingly spacious. The rainfall shower was wonderful, and the beds were some of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in. The hotel also offered complimentary light breakfast items in the morning and refreshments in the evening, which was a nice bonus. What truly stood out was the hospitality. The staff was responsive before our arrival, incredibly welcoming throughout our stay, and went above and beyond with thoughtful touches, including a handwritten welcome note and gift waiting in our room. The location was fantastic—just a short walk to Nishiki Market, close to Gion, surrounded by endless restaurants and shops, and conveniently located near both convenience stores and public transportation. The hotel also partners with Sagawa for easy luggage forwarding, which was very helpful. Overall, this was one of the best places my family and I stayed during our trip to Japan. The combination of excellent service, comfort, value, and location makes KIORI Hotel Takakura a place I would gladly stay at again and highly recommend to anyone visiting Kyoto. Since it is a fairly new hotel, many taxi drivers were not familiar with it right away. I highly suggest having the address in Japanese to show them (or have Google Maps handy) in case they are not familiar with the hotel.

The hotel was very clean and quiet. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The room had enough space and got sunlight perfectly. Locatşon was perfect very close to attractions, cafe and restaurants, metro and markets. The only thing I did not like was, there was only one washing machine and the program takes around 2 hours so it was always occupied.

We loved staying here. It was our first time in Kyoto and the location was very convenient! There’s a 7-Eleven and Family mart just around the corner. Several restaurants nearby and walking distance to subway station. Rooms are spacious and clean. Staff were wonderful! And the complimentary pastries and coffee in the morning were helpful to get us started early in the morning. And the late afternoon complimentary sake was a nice way to unwind and try different sake brands. No windows with view to the outside and only one laundry machine on site. It took forever to dry our clothes.

It’s about 15-20 minute walk from the station and you also have to navigate thru nishiki market to which at night it get really crowded

We had to book 2 rooms to accommodate our children so it was the most expensive accommodation of our stay. Rooms were small

Windows could not be opened, so could not get any fresh air into the room. Also, no blinds so could not see outside at all. Room was slightly dusty which caused my wife to sneeze at night constantly.

The staff was extremely friendly. The hotel felt very elevated but wasn’t super expensive. It’s almost impossible to find a hotel in Japan with a private bathroom, king size bed, and space in the room to move around. Plus, the location was perfect for getting to all the attractions, restaurants, shops, and bars we wanted to go to! Loved everything!

This was by far the best hotel of our entire Japan trip. Super clean, large room, very comfortable overall. The staff was very professional and courteous. Well located. Nothing. It was perfect.
