Clean, neat, full of calmness derived from simplicity. Nothing

Everything! The rooms were clean, spartan, and lovely. The folks running the place were kind and very helpful. The breakfast was absolutely some of the best food I ever had. And the fact that it's a cafe/restaurant means you can get coffee and great baked goods and food right at your place! Loved it all around. Great location as well. Nothing. It was perfect.

This B&B is super nice; it’s very authentic and in a great location. We could walk to a lot of places, and esp. of importance, kyoto station, from which we went to many sites via trains/subways. It’s also very close to a city bus stop, which we used to get to a few temples and other locations. The owners are great – very helpful and intuitive. There’s no elevator, but the owners carry your suitcases upstairs for you. Beds were good. There’s a mini fridge but no smart TV and only japanese channels. Rooms are a good size and quite cozy, although the overhead lighting is too harsh. You can dim it, but there are only 3 settings: crazy bright; very bright, or nightlight. There needs to be some sort of happy medium. It was a bit too dark with just the sconces over the bed, but still cozy. The bathrooms are minuscule (we can’t emphasize this enough), about 4’ x 5’. And because the japanese toilet projects about 3’ into the space, it’s very tight. I'm 5’6” and 120 lbs, and I found it very tight. I can't imagine if you were larger or had any mobility issues. The shower’s very tight as well, and the sink kind of projects over the side of the bathtub area. But, the shower had good pressure and temperature consistency. The bathroom could definitely use some hooks and shelves, especially being such a tight squeeze. There’s empty wall space above the sink and toilet that could be utilized to help this space become much more workable. All-in-all though, the room, as well as the dining room on the main floor, are very cozy and comfy. Breakfast was excellent, it was like a five-course meal! You get yogurt and fruit, soup, a main dish with things like egg or quiche, sausage or bacon, salad etc. Then you get a choice of dessert: chocolate cake, creme caramel, or ice cream. Coffee or tea, orange or apple juice. You also get an assortment of 3 bagels or buns (from their own on-site bakery). The apple cinnamon were so good. the bathrooms are very small, but we managed

Quiet, peaceful hotel in an excellent location. The rooms were very large and well equipt. We were travelling as a family so we had two rooms on a floor to ourselves, which was fantastic. We were on the fourth floor but as staff helped with our bags it wasn't an issue. The breakfast was amazing - one of the best I have had anywhere. The neighbourhood was quiet and great to wander through, while being in easy walking distance to the Gion and central shopping area. The couple who ran the hotel were very helpful and friendly. We highly recommend this hotel.

Location is near Gion, easy busy ride from Station, and easy walk to buses to get to Tourist Attractiions. Room was a good size, warm, bathroom is tiny, but worked for us. It is a 3 star accom and we found it very neat, the staff very helpful, room simple and cosy. We enjoyed the access to the bakery below for morning breakfasts. Would happily stay again and recommend others to stay. A spare pillow for western comforts and some hooks to hang towels and other items would be helpful.

The location is outstanding; quiet, easy walking distance to Gion, Nishiki, and major transit. The room itself is calming and cozy, great beds and lovely lighting, a little oasis. The hotel is also a bakery, and the baked goods are phenomenal. The English muffins and walnut bread were my absolute favorites. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the owner is so nice and helpful! Very accommodating when helping with luggage transfers also!

I mean, where to begin,,, I ended up staying here my entire time in Kyoto and did not want to leave. This place is an oasis and I will return here many times. Nichol who works the front is one of the kindest people I have ever met while traveling the world. Her softness and kindness speak for themselves. The room is huge and extremely comfortable. And just the aura of the place glows. I loved it. Super special memories. Near everything. I rented a bike for the week, and they insisted on storing it inside the bakery every night. I love this spot. Some amazing shops right outside its doors. Love this place.

Thank you, Nicole-san and family. We were so happy during our seven day stay. Even now, Norma and I talk about how Kyoto felt extra special because of our time at the Kyono Mori Yurinsha. We appreciated every detail of your family hospitality. Thank you for… Helping us make restaurant reservations even before we arrived. Insisting on carrying our very heavy suitcases to the fourth floor after our long journey to Kyoto. Providing a clean, comfortable, and relaxing room — a serene, zen-like space with wood floors, beamed ceilings, and white textured walls. Greeting us so warmly every morning and afternoon. You were busy caring for all your guests, yet we always felt special. The serving of exquisite, multi-course breakfasts prepared with such care and harmony by our friend, the chef. Thank you for explaining each dish and the unique local ingredients you use. I was truly honored — I could write much more, but then the review would become too long, haha. I’ll post photos instead. Seeing us off to the taxi and making sure the driver took us to the right part of the train station. Norma wanted to give you a hug goodbye, but we weren’t sure if that was appropriate in Japan, haha. We’ll see you next time we’re in Kyoto! We loved it all :)
