Mitsuki Kyoto is an oasis of tranquility, thoughtfully and beautifully designed. If you have read Tanazaki's In Praise of Shadows, then you will especially appreciate the attention to detail that Yoko has put into the design of Mitsuki Kyoto. The rooms were gorgeous, as were the gardens - so much so that I wanted to spend more time in them. The location was convenient for getting around (both on public transportation and via taxis). I had one breakfast there, served in the dining room (my choice) and it was amazing - delicious, beautiful, and with attentive service. When I arrived Yoko served me tea, and then sat down with me, provided a city map, and helped me make a plan to visit the sites I was interested in, while also suggesting others based on my interests. Yoko was a kind, attentive, communicative host throughout my visit. She gave me excellent recommendations for dinner, and checked in daily via text. She also provided coffee since I planned to leave early in the morning for temple visits. The bathroom also gives you the option to have a private onsen, with a washing area (stool, bowl, shower head), and soaking tub, which I greatly appreciated. These were the best accommodations of my 2.5 week trip to Japan (out of 8) and I cannot recommend Mitsuki Kyoto highly enough. I cannot wait to return and stay there again. There is nothing I didn't like. Mitsuki Kyoto is amazing.

We recently stayed 2 nights at Mitsuki in Kyoto. It exceeded our expectations in every way. The historic Ryokan was beautiful, clean, and very comfortable. The shining feature, though, was the staff. Yoko and her staff went out of their way to welcome us into their “home” and went out of their way to help us in several instances. They phoned one restaurant to ask to change the time of our reservation, recommended a sushi restaurant in the neighborhood that was one of the best meals of our trip, marked places for us to visit on a map, and made several phone calls to help us get information about the Limousine Bus from Kyoto Station to Kansai Airport in Osaka. Our room was ready at 10 am on the day we checked in. (!) We were able to store our bags at the ryokan after we checked out. They spoke with our Uber driver to make sure he knew exactly where to drop us off at Kyoto Station at the end of our stay. And, as if all this were not enough, one of the staff (Tomomin) left me a personal farewell note along with an origami crane and package of Kit-Kat bars (I had inquired about these earlier during my stay). We could not have asked for a more perfect place to stay. The location was great, in a quiet street with many small shops and restaurants nearby. Not a thing

Excellent authentic Ryokan in a quiet neighborhood, but a few minutes walk to metro and about 15 minutes walk to the Kyoto Imperial Palace. The host, Yoko, treated you like family and responded to our questions diligently. She made sure we had what we needed for our dinner reservations every night. The authentic Japanese breakfast exceeded our expectations. 10/10 - we plan on staying here again the next time we’re in Kyoto. N/A

The ryokan space was beautifully designed, each piece carefully curated. We loved the host, Yoko is a special person: welcoming, gracious and caring and her staff, especially Tomomi was also wonderful there was nothing to criticize; the experience was just perfect for us, especially as we had a seven year old boy with us and they were very accepting of him

This was the best experience we had in Japan. The ryokan was impeccable, and the traditional kaiseki breakfast was absolutely amazing. Special thanks to our host, Yoko, who was incredibly welcoming and attentive. She made us feel at home from the very beginning, was always available to help, and went out of her way to make our stay truly special. Her kindness and attention to detail made a real difference to our experience. N/A

Yoko and her team were wonderful hosts, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. They pay attention to every single detail, and prepare a fabulous breakfast. Yoko even went above and beyond to write our daughter personalized notes on origami ❤️ I accidentally left my AirPods and Yoko sent them to me via overnight post to Tokyo - truly exceptional service! We can’t wait to return one day. I highly recommend Mitsuki to everyone going to Kyoto, especially for families!

This was our favorite spot in Japan! From the minute we arrived, Yoko was kind and eager to help us find restaurants and things to do locally. We loved the breakfast she offered, as well as spending evenings at the bar! I would 10/10 recommend this place to everyone visiting Kyoto! She even brought my AirPods to the train station after she noticed I left them on the last day, she is a wonderful human and host! I wish we could have stayed longer!

This was the first ryokan we ever stayed at and we loved it. Yoko is so warm and welcoming! She speaks perfect English and is a perfect host. She helped us find a good bike rental and forward our luggage, and it's obvious that she cares a lot about her inn and taking care of her guests. We enjoyed talking to her about our day and learning about the ryokan. Yoko's colleague was also super sweet and lovely. We loved the traditional breakfast, it was so tasty and carefully prepared. The room was gorgeous and very clean, and the futon was very comfortable. There was air conditioning which was great since we had hot weather. The location is also excellent in a charming neighborhood with many dining options. When we come back to Kyoto one day, I would love to stay at Mitsuki again. Everything was wonderful.

Yoko and Tomomi welcomed us with phenomenal services and hospitality. They were very friendly and caring. The stay was the best stay in my whole Japan trip as Yoko and her team made exceptional efforts to make us feel welcomed. The house was well maintained and beautiful, breakfast was delicious, and location was super convenient for us. Overall, I would really love to come back to Kyoto and stay with their ryokan again. Also, I love that Yoko run a bar inside the ryokan, only 5 seats and open for a short time which made a great cozy vibe, highly recommended for a chill night.

Everything! Everything about Mitsuki was just perfect. We had the Japanese breakfast and it was absolutely delicious, beautiful and the great Kyoto culinary experience that exactly we wanted to have in Kyoto (and the menu even changed daily!). The accommodation was really nice and cozy. The bed was super comfy, the room was clean and smelled good. Before staying at Mitsuki, I was little concerned that the room might not be warm enough, but there was underfloor heating in the bedroom, and individual heaters in every space, so there was absolutely no need to worry at all! And we were able to enjoy a small Japanese-style garden from the bedroom, and feel the peaceful atmosphere of Kyoto. The best part about Mitsuki was the staffs: Yoko-san and Tomomi-san. They were incredibly friendly, kind, and supportive. They always greeted us with smiles and warm greetings whenever we went out or came back, making us feel Mitsuki like home. I sincerely appreciate Yoko-san and Tomomi-san for their warm hospitality, professionalism, and kindness. I would definitely want to stay at Mitsuki again if I have the opportunity to visit Kyoto. There was absolutely nothing to dislike. Everything was great and perfect!
