The Cornell Inn, Lenox & The Berkshires

The location near town. The look and feel of a traditional house. The breakfast. The nice staff. The garden. I found my room too small for two people. The power strip didn't have space for multiple plugs. The mattress was too soft.

Welcoming Staff and beautifully decorated Inn. The entire Inn is very comfortable and the gourmet breakfast is delicious. We’ll definitely be back!

Bed not very comfortable..

The hotel is very overpriced for what it is. The hotel is on a very busy road (50 mph+) and our room faced the road. The traffic noise was terrible. The window air conditioning unit drowned out some of the noise but that was loud too. The property shows sign of wear- the paint was chipped around the door frames, the windows were very old and our room felt dated. The breakfast was tasty but the quiche portion was very small (and I’m a small person). Also, there were several sign asking for tips- in the room (housekeeping comes every other day only) and for the included breakfast- and it felt tacky, particularly when paying nearly $400. The walk to town is about 10 minutes. There were some nice touches - brownies in reception, bottle of wine in room- but it felt very overpriced and I wouldn’t stay there again, particularly given the road location and traffic noise.

Exceptional

The staff were terrific from welcome to departure. Breakfast was diverse and tasty. The Inn location was great for Tanglewood and local restaurants. We intend to return should we be in that area again!

Things that could have been done better. 1) notify guests if there is a problem so they can make other accommodations. We arrived at 6 pm for an 8 pm event and could not make last minute arrangements. 2) Honor guest reservations rather than giving rooms away to preferential guests. No explanation was given for why our room with functioning AC was given away. 3) Make an effort to go buy a window AC or keep one on hand for emergencies. 4) Managers should follow up on poor experiences and refund guests as promised by staff.

Well kept Nothing

Room was very clean but small. Location was excellent. Great coffee in the am. Nice options of eating outside weather permitting. Breakfast selection was limited. Eggs should be on the menu as a normal option. You were only allowed one main itme and they were not very big so could have used 2 and I am not a big eater. We did not stay in the main builing as we were assigned a room away. In the poring rain which we had we had to walk on very slippery rocks to get to main house where breakfast was served. Price of room was very high as it is the high season.

Area for breakfast My room did not look anything like the picture. We were in an attic space with horrible lighting, no closet. Horrible.

The bed was comfortable, linens were good. The breakfast was quite good & the dining area nicely decorated. The staff were all friendly and attentive. We think with some effort, a lot of the above could be remedied. We will try it again next year.

Friendly welcome. Wine for room. Excellent breakfast. Ground floor room. Floor in our room was uneven. Difficult for elderly. Would have liked a side table on both sides of bed.

Liza at the front desk is a gem! We booked a 6 night stay. Brownies at front desk late in day is a nice touch. Would be lovely if they could rotate with chocolate chip cookies. They do provide freshly made corn bread and pound cake slice upon request at breakfast, which is a nice touch if you are not gluten free. Wine provided in the room as a gift which could be exchanged for a bottle of water, although no credit for difference in cost given. Location very good if going to different venues but a really long walk into Lenox itself. Ample parking. Breakfast very disappointing, especially since most B&B's pride themselves on providing outstanding breakfasts. They have 2 slightly different menus that they rotate so you are basically getting the same items if you stay more than 2 nights, which we were. Not much difference between the menus: frittata, bagel, lox and cream cheese and yogurt with blueberries or quiche, oatmeal, and yogurt. No cold cereal, no eggs, pancakes, muffins, skim milk or gluten free items. Oatmeal inedible. Housekeeping is every other day and consists of replacing the towels, making the bed and emptying the wastebaskets but not cleaning the floor or bathroom or changing the sheets. One mini bar of soap. No pads or writing utensils in desk.

Location. The breakfasts in the past were far better. More choices, more generous portions. No eggs, no pancakes as previously.
